Spending ridiculous money
« on: August 10, 2010, 01:30:03 PM »
Probably the wrong place again but...

At this point my sim's cash is in the excess of a million, but I don't know what to spend it on. He owns everything in town, gets a spa package every week, you name it... is there any way I can put that money to good use, like maybe improving stuff in the town itself?

If he owns everything in town you can try and upgrade everything (by going into buy/build mode). Sometimes this can present a challenge, so good luck.

Throw huge parties every day, never work ever again, living in the lap of absolute luxury? Probably something of what I would have done if I became financially independent. ;D
You know, you really can't have enough mansions in France, now can you?

Do you already have a mansion worth over a million?

If you own the venues in town (with Ambitions), you can upgrade them.  Like the park or the fishing locations.  The beach.

Once you have Ambitions, you can upgrade all the community property.  You'll run through at least 2 million upgrading everything to fully (believe me!).  After that?  Well, you could always kick all of your children out into the most expensive houses you can find.

I've noticed that the "never working again" thing doesn't work with my Sims.  They keep getting wishes for employment.

I'm planning on doing just this, Pam,

If you own the venues in town (with Ambitions), you can upgrade them.  Like the park or the fishing locations.  The beach.

once one of my families reaches its first million simoleons.

I've yet to purchase a venue (I've seen the "Wish" pop up many times), but it's not yet part of my game-playing experience. I'm actually looking forward to it.  ;)

I think I'm about to buy a Venue, too.  I think maybe Central Park in Sunset Valley and see what I can do with it.  Definitely some facilities for toddlers and some balls for everyone to play catch.  My family is at $1.2 million at the moment.

Pam,

I've only been in "Edit Town" mode once in an active game (and that was trouble-shooting a problem I was having with a semi-bugged Sim), but I suspect some of the decorative objects are really a money-pit.

I'll report my "findings" once I have them.

If by spending you mean wasting then the best way in my experience is to buy a lot of expensive stuff (statues.. cars) and see how many you can blow up at once. Just be aware that when you're selling thousands of scrap at a time the game will appear to freeze but not actually freeze. It'll just lag based on how many you're selling.. I once sold over 17k scrap at once and it lagged me for about 20 seconds, so just wait and don't close your game!
 ;)
