Traits guide

Started this thread because there wasn't one for comments about the traits guide.

Carl, I think you missed how amazing the "Neurotic" trait is.  You should try it out.  I know it sounds like a bad thing, but Neurotic is a fantastic trait to give most sims, but especially ones that are self-employed or homemakers.  It has a couple of downsides: you get stressed more easily and for longer periods of time, and sometimes you get a negative moodlet from worrying about something (such as worrying that you left the faucet running).

However, they get the "freak out" action which puts them in a "tranquil" state, +10 mood for 8 hours, and also removes all their stress.  It negatively impacts their relationship with anyone witnessing it, but you can easily avoid that issue if you're at home.

You can also check on the thing you're worrying about, which cancels the negative worry moodlet and gives you a positive "calm" one for a couple of hours.

And you get a lot of easy clean-up style wishes, like making the bed.  Low points, but a great way to ge that "fulfilled" moodlet every day.

I have a gardener right now with Green Thumb, Loves the Outdoors, Handy, Neurotic, and Flirty, and her moods when she starts gardening are just fantastic.

I can see your point. But, at least for me when I create a Sim — usually for challenges — it all comes down to maximizing the 5 trait slots for the task at hand. And I would pick Over-Emotional over Neurotic for gardener. It's not that Neurotic is bad. It's an overlooked trait and that's a good thing to try those out. It's just that Over-Emotional would probably give you better results.

This is a nice tip, I'll want to try a neurotic sim. :D
I have some favorite traits, like Over Emotional, but it can get a little boring always playing with the same traits. I tend to be too lazy to check out some new ones though because I know what works.

I just tried No Sense of Humor for the first time, that was pretty good. The Having a Blast moodlet lasts twice as long. :)
I worried that the sim would be terrible at socialising but that wasn't the case at all, he didn't seem to mind telling jokes to other sims.

Does anyone have much experience with Excitable sims? I tried one for a little while but it didn't seem to do much. Do they get moodlets from being exited or do they just go "woo!" a lot?

They get moodlets like *excited to see friend* and such.  It is a pretty fun trait I have found in my experiance.

I like the Excitable trait, too.  They have an excited moodlet a lot of the time and it helps them stay happy.

Okay. I've made a neurotic, excitable sim now. She's feeling excited about catching a fish and calm from checking the stove. :)
Hee hee, what a fool. :D
