Well I know sroryline progression randomly moves people out and adds new people to the town.
In my Sunset Valley, It moved the Goths out of town! In my Twinbrook, it keeps moving in single guys!
I'm out of single women at this point lol

Has anyone gotten this weird occurance? I'll have a kid, whom I want to start leveling up relationships in school ASAP, but for some reason, I get one papergirl (it's never been a boy) in his relationships that I know I've never had before. The most I had known at one time is 3, and it's always the strangest looking papergirls, who have extreamly dark or tan skin, and white, mustard yellow, or blonde hair. They also age up, but will still be papergirls. I also had a teenager who knew a babysitter, despite the fact I'd never hired one. It's so strange to know a hireable NPC in game.

On the subject of townies, I've gotten families that move in with no description, and a...random assortment of people. A family of three various men moved in, and a teen, her father, and her siblings. She stuck out because she had that horrible hat on, the big celebratory red white and blue tophat.

I've had my children and teens meet NPCs at school.  I guess even NPCs have to be educated.  :)

In my legacy game, the kids never hit it off with anyone from school until a new (random) family moved to town. My girl married one of them, and then my boy married the sibling of her spouse. It wasn't until much later that I realized that both spouses had the same birthday, that they were twins. I think that's kind of cool.

Yeah, new townies keep the town alive, especially with the original townies fail to reproduce in sufficient numbers to keep everything going.  The problem I always have is that I just don't know these new ones.  I know the originals and they all have a history with the town.  But when these new ones move in, I just don't know them.  I should make an effort to have my Sims get to know newcomers a little better.

Hehe, Pam, you've been spending too much time with the Landgraabs. They're pretty good, but my games always move out a TON more sims than they bring in, so I have to move in families I make up. I make little histories for them in my head, like the McCoy family I moved into a trailer near the Rackets in Riverveiw...The father's a retired truck driver, the mom's a ex diva, and the one kid's a genuis, while the little girl is going to be a pretty young woman. I made a few to move into my last town, since there was like...5 children and 4 teens in the entire town.  :(

That's really interesting. Is there some way to look up the town's demographics at any given time? Peeking in Edit Town doesn't give pics of new townies, and my sims aren't outgoing enough to meet most of the town's residents.

Oh, no, I just check Edit Town. I have a pretty good map of Sunset and Twinbrook in my mind, but Riverveiw's hard to remember...It's much too spacious. I remember most of the base people in town too, and I make the sims read the paper each day, in case someone moves.  ;D I know it's strange to keep tabs on the entire town, but I like to know what's going on in my little towns. I wish it wouldn't move out people like the Goths, though...That wasn't cool.

It never really occurred to me to read the newspaper, heh.

Really? I love reading it. The sport scores are always odd (Broncos Slightly Better in a 11 to 0 game?), but you get to know about new children, new families, if people move, and who's died. There's also the funny tidbits, like about 'Whooping the Unknown' story about people discussing aliens, and 'High Def generates Panic, Popcorn Sales', where people freak due to the new High Definition screens at the theatre. There's also notices when sims reach the top of the career chain.

I guess I've only tried the Weekly Events option, which was uninteresting. I'll re-subscribe. :D
