I have two issues in my game that are possibly unrelated but in combination causing a big problem for me.
The former ghost girlfriend of my Sim lives in the house with him. No matter what I try, I can't get him to propose marriage to her or vice versa. I was aware of the risks of former ghosts not being able to get married but I forgot until it happened to me. I reset them both. I tried moving her back out and then proposing, but that also didn't work. I would send them on holiday, and I've tried, but it doesn't work either. I just tried using Clean Slate on the guy (the girl didn't have enough points) and still nothing.
Leading me to the second issue. I can't send my Sims to another location. At first I thought it was just China but I just tried France and that didn't work either. They travelled to France much earlier in the file and it worked. I expect this may be due to the fact that I'm somewhere around Week 60 in my game, so I would expect problems. But I tried everything to fix it, and nothing has worked. I tried getting rid of all the celebrity gifts. Heck, I got rid of everything in the family inventory that wasn't either made by a household member (sculptures, paintings) or a trophy of some kind (LTRs, souvenirs from school). I went through the house as well and deleted anything that could have been a celebrity gift. All the VR goggles, the foosball table, even some toilets! I went into Edit Town in China, chose Home, and then return to game. I moved the family out and back in again in Edit Town and then sent them. I moved the two sims in question out of the main house and tried travelling from an empty lot they moved to. Nothing has worked. I cleared caches as well. I found something saying you could delete the .nhd file for China but there wasn't one.
I gave up on finding a legitimate gameplay way of fixing the problem so I resigned myself to using mods. I have a Mods factory reset folder so I put the file in there and started up the game. It wouldn't even load. The game crashed again. I was a bit relieved because since the mods folder is not patched or updated I was worried about breaking my game when I moved it back.
Anyway, I'm at a loss. As far as I know, and as far as Google has been able to tell me, there is no cheat in the Sims that will make them be engaged. I can't make them go to another country. I can't make them propose. Do I have to give up on them ever being engaged or married? Truthfully, I was counting on the 'Get Married' wish for my Life States Dynasty. And before you say anything, the dynasty is already non-HoF so don't worry about that. Any help or insight someone can give me will be appreciated. I can't think of anything else I could possibly do--except for come up with a backup wish.
