Meals not refilling hunger bar?

I've just encountered an odd glitch where eating prepared meals is only filling perhaps a quarter of the hunger bar. I suspect it's an Island Paradise bug because it's never happened to be before and it's similar to how resort meals fill hunger.

Other details: I'm playing Salty Seaworth, a mermaid. I've just moved him from the IP town to Twinbrook. He's never cooked before (lived off apples, etc) and the meal in question is a normal-quality group serving of Autumn Salad. Haven't tried other meals or the restaurant yet, will do that next. I'm not using any custom content.

Has anyone seen this before or know how to fix it?

Other meals and the restaurant have the same problem.

Mermen can only have hunger raised all the way by Kelp. Second best is fresh fish. All other food has a lesser impact. My poor merman is constantly hungry.

Not that I've ever seen. Kelp, eaten straight from the inventory, will. As should fish, straight from the inventory (if you click on the fish, it should give an option to eat raw or something similar - they look like they're eating a salmon steak).

Not even sushi. Just raw fish in the inventory. And kelp.

Now that I think about it, I like that. It makes sense and adds to the immersion if mermaids don't like ordinary food. I guess this means Salty will be taking up fishing ;D

Ok, maybe I'm the one having the glitch here then... my Mermaids aren't satisfied with ANYTHING. Kelp fills them up like a simple apple would partially fill up a regular Sim. They no longer get positive moodlets from eating awesomely prepared food and normal Sim food doesn't fill them up either. Is that normal?

I believe it is normal; kelp wouldn't be prepared (far as I know!), and they aren't normal sims.
