Visitor Carrying Toddler

I've had this happen a few times: when an acquaintance comes to your home carrying a toddler, they set down the toddler while talking to your sim and soon the toddler has apparently vanished. I look all over the lot, don't see it anywhere, and the person goes home alone, completely unaware.

What's going on here? Does that family actually have no baby anymore?

I've had that happen to. I think, oh good, my toddler has someone to play with, then I can't find the visiting toddler anywhere. Then I panic thinking toddlers shouldn't be wandering on their own, until I remember it's pixels we're talking about lol

It's a weird thing that happens in the game with other Sims' toddlers.  They just disappear.  I've seen them disappear from the park quite often.  In the storyline, I believe a babysitter comes to take them home, but we never see that babysitter and they just *poof* away.
