My sim's riding style doesn't change even though his skill is increasing!

My sim's lifetime wish is The Jockey so it's very important that he has full riding skill. At the moment he's on level 5, which means he should be able to ride bareback, however the way he rides hasn't changed at all and he still looks like he's on level 1... bouncing along on the horse with no position etc... very annoying.

How do I fix this problem?

Have you tried clearing your caches and restarting the computer?  I know it seems simple but sometimes those are the fastest solutions.   Does any other Sim who rides the horse change their seat?
