Gardening Opportunity Glitch

Hi all, although I have been lurking on this site for years, this is my first time posting. Thanks for an excellent and informative resource!

Please forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong section. I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find an answer. My Sim is fully skilled in gardening, has the green thumb trait and the super green thumb reward. Several times she has been offered the gardening opportunity called Uncommonly Good. I accept it, and then a pop-up says that she can't do it as 'one of the targets is no longer available'.  Has anyone had this problem that can provide a solution? Thanks in advance!!

Is this an opportunity you got before or after the patch?   What town are you playing in?

I am playing in Dragon Valley. I have had this problem for the past few days. By the patch, do you mean the store update from today?

No I mean the major patch that released for the game.  Patch 1.55 it came out a few days ago.


Dragon Valley - the diner is combined.   Is it the one that's giving it to you?

Weird, my version is 1.50 etc but it says I am up to date. I think it was the restaurant that wanted the produce, but I could be wrong.

Do you use steam?  That hasn't patched yet but everyone else has to my knowledge.

If it's the bistro then I'm not sure the problem.   You say the opportunity is instantly cancelling, have you tried resetSimming the whole town?   Also perhaps, replacing the bistro itself on that property might not be a bad idea.

Re the patch, I just figured out that I did not have Origin downloaded. Patching to 1.55 now...not sure if this is my fix but I will try it out.  I will also replace the bistro and the diner/grocer. Thanks for your help!

Sadly, I am back. I ended up uninstalling the game (only had the base game plus Dragon Valley installed as I had a crash a while back and I wanted to slowly add back the expansions.) Reinstalled and another produce opportunity came up, this one required delivery to a sim, I think it was Perfect Produce. Got the same pop up saying 'targets are not available.'

Also, I have been unable to hatch a baby dragon pre 1.55 patch, post patch and post re-install. I get the countdown and then nothing happens.

I am ever so grateful for more suggestions!

The baby dragon thing is actually a glitch where you need to reinstall dragon valley on top of the dragon valley you have.  It may take one or two tries.  When you did the reinstall, did you put back any files from your previous installation?

Yes, I had saved the Documents library and added it back after the reinstall.

 By adding stuff back, I think you negated the reinstall.  Without adding anything back, create a new Sims 3 folder by renaming the old one.  Launch the launcher and this will create a new folder.  Use this launcher to download and install a new version of dragon valley from the store.    Then place the save giving you issues into the new Sims 3 folder.  Only the save.   Try to play it and see if you're still getting the error.


I forgot to ask if you were using any mods.

So sorry I didn't return here earlier. Thanks again for your advice! I didn't bother with another reinstall. No, I don't have any mods. I ended up moving my sim to another town and was able to complete the opportunity. I will go back and address the fix for Dragon Valley when I take a break from IP.
