Losing Thing in Treasure Boxes after Moving
« on: June 29, 2010, 11:36:42 AM »
My sims stores her gems, ingot and relics in the Treasure Boxes.
Once she moved to her new house. She places all her items from family inventory into her new house.
After a few days, she checks her Treasure Boxes and found all are empty!  :'(
Have anyone experienced the same problem? This is the first time for my sims to move after installed Ambitions.

(I've tried to recover the back-up save and can't return to the time before moving house.)
Now I realize playing the Sims 3 on Mac is playing the game of installation and uninstallation...

Check your family inventory. They might have been placed there when you put the boxes in there.

Yes I have. It was right after WA came out. Here is a link to another thread:

I think the only solution is to take everything out of the chests, move than put them back in. Annoying I know, but better than losing things that has taken a sim lifetime to collect!

Wow, that is a new one on me.  I thought the treasure chests were about the safest thing to put your stuff in.  I have mine filled and never lost anything, well, now that I have said that.  Just something else to add to list.  Really sorry to hear that though.

Yea Salty it can happen. Back when it happened to me, I didn't know to exit without saving and I was very upset and frustrated! Now before I move I always take everything out and put it in my inventory. Like I said before it gets annoying but not as annoying as losing all your stuff you have spent hours or months collecting!

That is awful.  I know the feeling about losing sims and their possessions.  Just when you think, you won't or can't lose anything, that is when it happens.  So far since the beginning of sims3 I have lost two of my biggest families with every collectable imaginable, be we seem to do it all over again and just hope it doesn't happen again.  Did you move within the same neighborhood?  I changed towns and lost some stuff in family and personal inventory.  I have not had problems moving within the same town.  I hope whatever it is, it gets fixed.  Too many hours and days working to get this stuff.

Yes I did. I moved from one of the little lots in SV to 15 Summer Hill Court (I think that's the name) by the Alto's and Landgraab's. I know, we spend all this time hunting and getting stuff and lose it, it's frustrating but what do we do? Just go get them again! I guess that shows how addictive this game is!  ;D

Yes, I agree 100% with you on that one, it is addictive.  I only quit this time of day, because it is rainy season and it storms in the afternoon, like right now, I would rather be playing, but I do not like lightning.

I don't play during a storm either! The other day I was playing and it suddenly started storming and the lights started flickering. I was like Oh please please don't go out til I save! It didn't but as soon as I saved, I quit! It's too risky already playing without saving! I normally save every 10-30 minutes (our time)!

I just moved a family into the Goth Mansion with three chests full of stuff and didn't lose anything that I can see.  I don't recall if the items were in the chests or loose in Family Inventory, but I didn't lose them.

Maybe they fixed it! Like I said mine was right after WA came out. But Skybaker just had the problem, so maybe it's random! 50/50 chance lol!

Now I've done 'collecting' every spire gem cut form that is ever possible to make ingame I thougth they should be saved in those treasure boxes I thought those should be save there.
This topic scares me a little. :(

Don't be scared Leto! Just remember to put them in your inventory before you move!  ;)

My Sims had a "set" of the chests, each dedicated to a different use (things for travel, rocks & gems, seeds). After moving, everything came along except the seeds, so I had to restore, place them in the fridge, and move again.

Inventory troubles suck, especially if I don't notice them for awhile.

I did that too sometimes and it turns out to work pretty well I thought. I give the treasure chests different colours so I can recognize somehow what's inside without everytime having to open and close them.
Silver is for metals, wood for seeds etc.
