locked gates

Is it possible, with the new patch, to be able to get into an additional home (My sims moved), if the gates in the additional home are locked or should I unlock them?

Depends how you lock them. If you lock for all sims then no sims can go through, if you locked to allow household only then your household will be able to get through the gate. You can also specify sims for gates now for who is allowed and who isn't.
