Marriage during travel?

I rember reading somewhere or perhaps it happened in one of my old dynasty attempts, but if you marry a sim from a forieghn country do they become part of your family or no? If they don't is their anyway round this without using cheats?

You can marry someone in a foreign country and yes they become part of the family but you can never move into their house, they can only move into yours.
