Two expansion packs don't work

I have Ambitions and Showtime expansions and I tried to put Sims 3 vanilla in, but the expansions don't work.  It said "no game disc found, please insert Sims 3 Katy Perry Showtime disc before proceeding".  I don't get that.  Please help. 

p.s. I lent Showtime to my friend.

You have to use the most recent disk to run the game.

Welcome to the forum.

The way the game works is you have the base game plus expansions.  In order to the play the game you will always have to have the most recently released game to play.  You can't choose to just play ambitions or just play showtime.   You play all of them together.  Your game will require your showtime disc unless you choose to uninstall showtime and possibly reinstall using Origin downloads.  Origin downloads will only work if you have registered your games on your Sims 3 account.

My friend asked that if she has both expansions katy perry (she has ambitions too) is mine by the way she won't be able to play on them. Can anyone see a solution to this problem. P.S. I am away at weekends!! my friend rikki8528 will watch out for a reply!!

This is why sharing doesn't work.  One of you will have to buy another expansion that came after showtime and only one of you will be able to install it or one of you needs to uninstall Showtime.

Ultimately - your friend needs to get her own copies.  There was just a huge sale where everything was low priced and there will be another soon.
