The Sims Medieval Error
« on: March 23, 2011, 12:55:53 AM »
I have my game on the highest settings it goes black and it says driver has stopped responding, but has recovered . When I'm not playing The Sims Medieval it's fine. In fact I also have The Sims 3 on the highest settings but nothing has happened. It also freezes my computer up.

Probably turning your graphics down would help then.  I have the graphics on both games turned down some, but not alot.  When I first started the Sims Medieval, it crashed and I thought, great, but after restarting it, I didn't have a problem and the graphics are quite good in the game. :)

Does Sims Medieval have higher graphics card requirements?

It basically has the same requirements as Sims3.  I know it is a big game with using a little over 5 gigs of hard drive space.  My graphics are set just below the highest.  I never really used the rotate screen function much on Sims3 and Medieval doesn't have that function anyway, just goes from side to side and up and down, funny how I kind of miss it.  You have to rotate using your mouse, which is not really a problem.  :)

Oh The Sims Medieval does have the rotate button but only in certain areas.

Oh The Sims Medieval does have the rotate button but only in certain areas.

Yesterday when I was playing and getting frustrated with not being able to rotate the screen, for some reason I clicked on the button that allows you to follow your sim (sorry, not sure of the exact name - the one at the top), and suddenly I was able to rotate the screen.  I don't know why clicking that button should have that result, but it works every time for me.

My computer says Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered, but then it flashes, goes black and crashes. I love this game but its really making me mad because I can play The Sims 3 and its fine. ;D

It's your video card.  Sims Medieval requires a better video card than Sims 3.

@schipperke, your right, when you click "follow your sim" the rotate option is there.  I use that one when I am out walking around in the kingdom.  It does make it easier and now I sometimes forget it is there. :)

I may have addressed this in another thread for you, but it sounds like your video card is the problem.  Sims Medieval requires more video card RAM.  It needs a 256 MG RAM card, while Sims 3 requires only 128 MG.

Oh really, but when I bought my computer it said i had 4 GB of ram I don't know how that works as far as games go, but I thought I would have enough. The thing that gets me about The Sims Medieval is it let me play for a little while. I even recorded a video of it, but I can't even load my save.

Not the amount of RAM on your computer.  It's the amount of RAM on your video card.  Check this topic.
