Pizza oven - no interactions
« on: May 25, 2013, 07:48:44 PM »
My pizza oven doesn't work any more.  I remember being able to use it when I first owned it but now there is no clickable action.  It doesn't matter what skills the Sim has.  Suggestions? ???

Have you recently deleted your ccmerged file?   If so, uninstall the oven and see if you can reinstall it.

Thank you.  I tried this.

Since it's part of a package I had to uninstall and reinstall the whole Monte Vista, but that didn't work.  The reinstall didn't work right though.  The world re-downloaded as an object vs a world so I had to restore my saved world from my recycle bin to get the world back.    I still have no interactions available.

I haven't tried running with no custom content yet.

When you uninstall Monte Vista, make sure it's all uninstalled.  Double check your launcher for anything that would be hanging around possibly.   This has been a big issue in the past with some store content that not everything uninstalls the way it should.

I wouldn't have restored the one from the recycle bin as that one seems to be the bugged one.

I have the same problem, except the pizza oven never worked for me.  But I have a question about uninstalling Monte Vista.  If I uninstall and reinstall it, what will happen to my saved games in MV?  Will I still be able to use them?  And what about objects from Monte Vista that are in other towns?

I think I can answer that one.

Saved games will remain as they were, unaffected, until/unless you want to use them.

Games that are IN Monte Vista, simply won't be able to be opened at all.
(until you reinstall Monte Vista-- then they'll open fine.  they won't be touched otherwise)

Games that are not in Monte Vista, but have items from the Monte Vista expansion, if you should open them, will lose those items.  The game will try to seek out generic replacements, and will kindly inform you that it has done this. If you don't save over those games, though, and reopen after reinstalling Monte Vista-- they'll keep those items.

The game will not change any of your saves unless you open them, and then resave.

I know because I had a saved game with Ambitions and Late Night installed, then opened it on another computer without Ambitions or Late Night.  Saved games that were in the particular towns could not be opened; saved games in say, Riverview, would open, but any Late Night or Ambitions content got replaced, and any Late Night or Ambitions skills were lost.

If you're worried, just move a copy of your saves to another folder.

Thanks so much!  I thought that was the case--I did uninstall and reinstall Sunlit Tides once--but it was awhile ago and I wasn't sure I was remembering right!

If uninstalling and re-installing doesn't work, then you may need to re-create the ccmerged.package entirely. You can find details about that here: http://nonasims.wordpress.com/tag/ccmerged/

Don't forget when you uninstall to make sure everything uninstalls.  There was an issue where things from some of the store sets wasn't uninstalling everything.

Also you could try just reinstalling on top of the installation.  This seems to work for broken dragon eggs and maybe it will work for the pizza oven.

Well, the two issues are actually a little different. As you mentioned the problem with uninstalling and re-installing is that not everything gets uninstalled. It can be tricky, if not impossible, to be sure that uninstalling from the Launcher removes everything (especially if you have a lot of content installed through the Launcher). This is why I recommend people to re-create their ccmerged in a clean folder. In the case with the ccmerged.package, if the launcher finds that a certain resource is already in the DCCache (i.e. not properly uninstalled), then it won't add that resource to the ccmerged.package again (otherwise it could end up full of duplicate information).

The reason why the dragon eggs don't hatch is because the resources are just never properly installed in the first place. Just re-installing over the current install will work because you're just trying to get the launcher to install it at all.
