Sim became invisible

I'm not sure if this is the right section for my almost month old problem.. here goes..

My mother sim went on vacation and left her newborn with the nanny and the father in the house. When she came back from her vacay, I panicked when I saw that only the father was in the house. It was my first time to experience it so I went frantic thinking how and where will I look for the baby.. I googled, saw threads on reseting the sim (it really never occured to me about kidnapping!). I did the reseting stuff, I even tried to adopt coz' I read a thread that it might be at the adoption center. Only to find out the baby was kidnapped by the babysitter! Now, the problem occurred when I tried to lauch the game after all this fuss and the father became invisible. No blob, no anything. His pic on the family screen is even blank. I dunno how to make him be seen again, (I kicked him out of the house, is another problem. But whenever the mother travels, the pic of the father is seen on her friends list and she can make long distance calls. I am so confused and frustrated.

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

We've had numerous reports of Sims disappearing during travel.  It's a bug that Electronic Arts will have to fix.  In the meantime, though, I'm afraid you probably have a corrupted save file.  As for the kidnapping, I'm very curious about where you found that information.  This is the first I've heard of such a thing.

Welcome to the Forum takeng04! We both end in 04! 

In SIms 2 there was a bug where the Nannies carried babies and left with the babies, I hope it doesn't return! In my opinion the best thing to do is re-install the game and start again, it may be that your file is corrupt.

We've had numerous reports of Sims disappearing during travel.  It's a bug that Electronic Arts will have to fix.  In the meantime, though, I'm afraid you probably have a corrupted save file.  As for the kidnapping, I'm very curious about where you found that information.  This is the first I've heard of such a thing.

The kidnapping thing, my cousin who is also a sims 3 player googled it for me. Can you imagine how "looney tunes" I went after I found out the baby is missing? I told her thru e-mail, (we're very much miles apart) and it sure is true.. I went to the house of the babysitter and tadaa! My baby was there in their house.

About the invisible issue, I think I made a mistake of kicking my invisible father out of the house since I can't find where he stays..
He shows up at parties but not when you invite him over. Even if he shows up, he's invisble!

Wow, never heard of the kidnapping in sims3, only in sims2.  Will have to read about that one.

I googled kidnapping in the sims3, it did have a link, but when I clicked on it, it said page no longer existed.  The other link I clicked on, took me to a story on the sims3 site, so I have not been able to find anything as of yet.  Just have never heard of kidnapping after all of this time playing the sims3.  Most of this invisible sims problems basically just started a couple of months ago, I could be wrong, but I really had not heard of too much before that. 

If that is where you found the missing baby, there is not too much more explanation needed, just can't find anything on it where it has happened before.

There's multiple links in a google search going back to 6/2009 about the babysitter or others taking babies, and all pretty much say the same thing.  Here's one over on the official forums - linkage.

^EDIT  another  And apparantly this was patched by EA way long ago.  See patch notes from 6/25/09  here.  Original poster, have you not patched your game in awhile?

I have been playing the game way back sims 1 and this is the only time it happened to me. Sorry, I didn't get to save or take note of the link. But from what I remember, even visitors tend to kidnap the baby and you can get ur baby back by going to the kidnapper's house

I guess, the patch EA made did not work for all

Never had the kidnap problem myself.  But there's multiple solutions to the kidnap problem in those links.  Please take the time to review them.  It's apparently a very old issue.
