You do have to be careful.  I have had it go both ways.  I put all I could in the family inventory and moved the family.  Everything was gone in the inventory after I moved.  Another time, I moved the family to another town, the stuff was still in the family inventory, but alot of the skull pieces that were well over 200,000, were around 2500 after the move.  The sim still had visa points, but after the move, lost the houses that I had in each country.  She was able to purchase another one.  So I suppose it is sort of like trial and error, I have tried putting everything in treasure chests and that seemed to work, if it goes with the sim.  I think I would rather lose the stuff than the relationship with kids and family, that is definitely a game breaker for me also and I had to quite a dynasty I had started because of a father flirting with his kids.  I just can't play those games anymore after that. :)
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

That is so true. I don't care if they loose stuff. But siblings that cuddle! Yikes. If it is just a married couple it isn't such a big deal, they can get married again. I was kind of sorry to loose them, I was kind of attached to them lol.

I just moved my household to a new town and I lost all the potions I had in the Alchemy Cabinet. :(
I'm going to try moving them to a WA chest or my inventory and try again and see how that goes.

Edit: I just tried it again. I spread the potions between my inventory, family inventory, a WA chest and the alchemy cabinet. After moving to a new town all the potions were still there. Even the ones I left in the cabinet. So I guess the first time was just a glitch that caused me to lose them all.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

In response to one of the questions on the first post of this thread:
I tried saving a household with a pregnant sim, then moving them to a different town. The pregnant sim started labor soon after arriving--and never stopped. She didn't give birth, she refused to go to the hospital, she just stood there with the "Have Baby" interaction locked into her queue! Thus, I say: be careful when moving pregnant sims.

One thing to note when moving Sims through the household is the new collection journal can have problems.  If you're not a mod user, saving & moving a Sim with the gardening skill can cause the journal to go blank and make it so you can't harvest more than one plant at a time.

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one with a relevant question:

I know that LTRs are saved, but what about the unused lifetime happiness points that can be used to purchase more rewards after being placed?

I have a Sim that's max Fishing with a collection helper in his pocket and a lot of money so that I can move him into new towns.  So far he has kept his unused lifetime happiness points each time I've placed him or put him back in the bin.
