Installed Twallan's Story Progression, but is it working?
« on: May 26, 2013, 04:44:41 PM »
Hi there.  I followed the directions on downloading Twallan's Story Progression mod from the sticky above, but I don't think it's working.  Is there supposed to be a new menu or something under options?  Or is everything supposed to look exactly the same?

I looked on Twallan's site, but the advice there was to re-read the install directions and see if I did it wrong.  That doesn't help me much, because I don't know enough about this stuff to determine if I'm doing it wrong (which I must be!).

The only thing that seemed different from the sticky's instructions when I installed was that I did not get an "extract" option on the zip file, or whatever it is.  It did have an "open" option, that gave me a .package file that is 3.3 KB.  Does that mean it's "extracted"?

Thanks.

When starting the game, do you get a popup window listing your mods when you are at the screen where you pick which saved game to load?

If not, then it definitely isn't working.

After you downloaded Story Progression, did you go to your downloads folder and right click on Story Progression?  There should be an option to "extract file to". Then you find your mods folder and put it in the package file.  Took me a while to figure it out, but once you do, it is pretty easy. :)

Thank you for trying to help me!

No pop-up window, so it's not working.

Okay, I went to my general downloads folder and did not see story progression in it.  I also did not see it in the downloads folder inside the Sims 3 folder.  When I downloaded it, I saved it to the Mods--Packages folder.  When I right-clicked it, it did not have an "extract file to" option, just '"open" and "save as".  When I clicked the "save as", it saved it as a package file under the Packages folder, so I cut and pasted it into the Packages folder.

Does that make any sense?  Because it barely makes any sense to me, ha!

Maybe I should just start over and try again?  Can I simply delete the story progression package file that is in my packages folder and send it to the trash can?  There is no uninstall option for it...

I had to read the instructions in this section two or three times before I actually got it.  I was in such a hurry.  My only advice is, to read the instructions again on how to install it and follow it to the letter.  Yes, you can delete the story progression file or if you decided to start over, just delete everything and start from scratch.  You will get it figured out and just keep asking questions and it will work.

Whee, I got it to work!   ;D

I had to click "Run" for the Resources.cfg program in order to get the option to start extracting files.  Easy-peasy from there.  Loving the mod so far!!  More weddings and babies than my game has ever had!

Thanks for your help and patience!
