Error Trap, Overwatch and the Sims 3, oh my!
« on: April 04, 2013, 05:51:02 AM »
Hi, first post... Hope this is the right place for it but here goes!

I have had error trap installed a while ago aswell as overwatch in my packages folder, but for some reason both don't seem to be registered by the game (as in the game telling me I have xwhateverx mod installed and whatnot)
Also , I still crash out into the desktop while in character creation just after i fiddle with their faces, skin etc or during a saved game (within 10-15 minutes of getting into the game.)

I'm puzzled as I don't know if I did install them correctly, or if they should be in the overrides folder? I do have cc installed but did remove and re-added, still didn't work.

Any ideas?

What is the full path of the folder where you have installed the mods?

(note that questions about the NRaas mods are probably best asked in the NRaas Wiki: http://nraas.wikispaces.com

It's in vista so the full path's  My Documents >Electronic Arts> The Sims 3> Mods> Packages. I'll also try there again, but thought somebody here might have a clearer idea of what's going on.

Welcome to the forum IceLee!   I agree with SimAd that problems with Nraas mods is best done on their website but I also want to mention to double check that you are absolutely certain you're up to date on those mods.

Pretty positive I'm up to date- I know I am for error at least, Overwatch I'll check today but I thought errortrap was designed to prevent 'to the desktop' crashes?

Trying Nraas website today, as I hoped somebody here'd know what did I do wrong with the mods installment first, before figuring out how to post there and all.

ErrorTrap does catch a lot of errors in your game, but definitely not all of them. In doing so, it can prevent a number of crashes, but again, not all of them. For example, there is nothing that ErrorTrap can do if you get an out-of-memory crash. On the other hand, it WILL clean up some crud from your game, and thereby "postpone" such a crash, but if your game runs out of memory in spite of that, there's nothing it can do to prevent that.

Do you have the Resource.cfg file in your mods folder?
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

UPDATE: May not be mods related issue- just attempted gameplay, without deeply customing my Sim, worked fine for a hour until I attempted to change her outfit. About to try something, will keep updated, but it looks like it's not a mod issue after all *fingers crossed*
