Missing Saves Folder
« on: June 20, 2013, 07:44:05 PM »
So I was updating the Sims 3 to the latest patch (1.55) and at the end when it was almost done a message popped up saying that there was an Invalid file found. I didn't know what happened because this never happened to me before, so I searched to see if anyone else found the same problem and they did. After searching I found out that if I backed up my saved games and uninstall Sims 3 it would go away. When I went to go find the Saves Folder there wasn't one. Computer > Local Disk> Program Files (x86) > Electronic Arts> The Sims 3.
My saved games are still there and they work fine but sometimes the animation are slow, like if a sim was cutting veggies the sim would be doing the motion but after a few seconds the veggies that were cut up fly back. I don't know what happened to the folder, and if I make another Saves folder would my saved games disappear.

The saves folder isn't in Program Files but is in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

Welcome to the forum

Do a search of your computer for your screenshots folder and can you show us the file path of where it's located by taking a screenshot?   The fastest way to find your screenshots would actually be to pull up the launcher and choose "Show file" on downloads or uploads.

The default placement of this folder will be My Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.   Did you at any point change the default placement of the program or the name of My Documents?    All the information in Program Files should only be the base information about the game.  Sims, saves, downloads should be kept elsewhere to avoid confusion.

Also if you got the invalid file found. I would avoid updating with the launcher and download the Superpatch which is linked on SimsVIP.  It will help you avoid the issue and patch up.
