It say that I'm extremely impressed by this story. I loved how you portrayed the flashbacks with that duller colour scheme, and I love how Xander ended up being Chester! I may have come into this story late, but I'll definitely see it to the end.  :D

This seems ... suspicious.
Or maybe I don't trust easy.
I think I might be trying to predict the unpredictable.

As I approached the house, I was confronted with a horrifying sight as I saw Chester transform right before my eyes.

I drew his attention to me and ran inside the house hoping to lure him away from innocent bystanders.
Having entered the house, the undead beast that had been Chester came at me

but he wasn't the only one.

Apparently, Chester had invited others to share in his "glorious elixir."
I was reminded of watching "Star Trek" with Lisa's brothers and being on a world with threatening aliens.  Well, I wasn't some TV extra sent in to die first.  I had a glorious elixir of my own.

Hopefully, it would work...

The potion worked.  When I left the Clavell household, peace was restored and the no one was any wiser to what had happened.

Having dispatched the undead, I returned home

to my beloved Lisa.

"I'm so relieved you're alive!" she said.

"You make me want to live," I said.  All of the sudden, Jennie's last words to me made sense.  I was living again, but had to fight hard to ensure that life.
The next day, when I joined Lisa in the lab, I decided to focus less on alchemy and more on chemistry.

A short while later,

we were joined by friends and family for the happy day.

I know Jennie is looking down on us and smiling.  She had, indeed, helped me remember how to live.

Some time later, there was a new life to focus on.

We named her Jennifer Magenta Clavell.

Now we just need a bigger house...

Yeah, that doesn't quite look large enough for the three of them.

That was terribly sweet. Jennie was right--he needed to learn how to live. :)

You know...I don't know that you've ever given us his name.
