Chapter 1: Amy Cartwright, City Girl
Hi, I’m Amy Cartwright. I’ve lived on the outskirts of Bridgeport my whole life. I always loved coming to the city; the lights, the traffic, all the people. It was heaven for me. My parents could never really understand that, but that’s ok. After I graduated high school, they gave me the money so I could get my own apartment. It took everything I’d made, as well as what they gave me, but now I live at 1557 Memorial Parkway, in the Crescent Bay Pied a Terre, in the penthouse! It is amazing! Especially after I got my hands on it and redecorated it to suit me.

It’s just me and my cat, Malcolm Reynolds… shhh! I’m a bit of a closet Firefly nerd… and a gaming nerd… ok, so I’m just a nerd in general! Don’t tell anyone, ok? *winks* He’s a great little guy and pretty well behaved. I’ve had him since he was a kitten, so I definitely couldn’t leave him home! And it’s really nice having a companion.
Everyone has been really friendly so far; you’d think in the big city, people would keep to themselves, but I definitely had some visitors welcome me to the apartments. There’s this guy… his name is Devin Ashton and he’s ADORABLE! In fact, once he and I started talking, it seemed to be only us in the apartment. Even Malcolm likes him and Malcolm is very discerning.
After being up quite late, Devin finally left so I could get some sleep. I had told him that I planned to go job hunting tomorrow.
I GOT THE JOB! I went to the business center and had an interview. I was given the job right away! Granted, I’m pretty much a glorified barista… or an errand girl, but gotta start somewhere, right? One day, I’ll be in that corner office… you’ll see! I’m already making friends with the boss. Honest, it isn’t sucking up. I genuinely love people and before I left work my first day, we were chatting and laughing, then she came over that night to see my apartment.
Sometimes, I get a bit… lonely. Being on my own can be tough at times, but having Malcolm really helps smooth things out. I know since I started working, he gets lonely too, so I do my best to spend my free time with him when I’m home.
Before, always had my parents around to do a lot of things; since moving, I’ve learned to do a lot of things on my own, like cooking and cleaning and even attempting to fix things, though haven’t had anything major break yet *keeps fingers crossed*
I’m over the moon! After work tonight, Devin asked me out on a date! It was… AWESOME! Even though we went to a club and couldn’t get in, we had a blast! Just being with him was… magical! *blushes* Our date ended after he brought me back to the apartment… we were standing in the elevator, going up to my floor and… things… happened. Oh, I feel so… free! I’m head over heels I think! *does a little boogy* Oh my Watcher… I want… no NEED- to see him again!
