[Senior Moment] Was: Please Help Me Understand What's Happening

After Ambitions came out, I started a fresh Sunset Valley and then lovingly and carefully moved around a few houses to make room for better placement of the Ambitions lots, which I incorporated into existing sidewalks, etc. Believing this to be the original Sunset Valley with only the Ambitions lots added, I saved this version of Sunset Valley to be my Ambitions template for all new SV games.

Just now, I was playing around there, to build a new house when I noticed that the Modernhaus was not in its original form, but in the improved-upon form that one of my sims in a different Sunset Valley had made. This makes me wonder whether this is a story-progressed town too, or what the heck is going on.

I would greatly appreciate an experienced view of what's happening here. I'm not acquainted enough with possibilities and impossibilities to draw any conclusions.

Are you saying that you started a new file in Sunset Valley and the Modernhaus in the new file is the one from a completely separate save file?  I'm a little confused.

After looking at it more closely, I see that the interior is original, but the gating and fencing I put up in another save game are in place. I think the town is not story-progressed because the Goths look new.

I'm not as concerned as I was, but I'm not sure how to explain the fencing.

Edit: I've decided I must be having a Senior Moment, and resolve to quit posting new threads.

  Oh good, I was worried that I was the only one who does stuff like that.  Only my problem is losing houses.

I thought the mixup was due to some strange connection with the library of houses.

I blame the migraine. It's dangerous to type or think with a migraine.
