Missing Pangu's Axe and Crash
« on: July 18, 2010, 07:26:03 PM »
I've finally encountered my first major issues with the game. Until now I haven't had any problems with it apart from the usual small glitches, such as excavation not working after the Ambitions update. Ok, so, I was playing my WA's storyline, and I was thinking of moving from SV to RV. So I saved the game before I did it, saved the lot to the library, and started a new game in Riverview. Then I realised that not only do you lose wishes, but also any adventures done in WA. So I decided not to do that and went back to my old save game, the one I did before I started the new game. So, all ok so far. I did a fair bit of playing, and quite a few adventures. Then I sent my couple to France, and my 'Lara Croft' sim checked the adventure board and the first adventure that came along was the very first one that you get when you go to France. The one that sends you to the forgotten burial ground to recover the baseball. I was like, hey, I've already done that. So I thought it was a glitch, so I decided to do it again just to free up adventure slots. Got to the tomb, went to clear rubble, and she started clearing with the pick ax. So I was like, hey, where's my Pangu's ax. So then I thought, oh great, another glitch, I'll have to get the ax again. So then I almost finished the tomb when the game just kicked me out, back to windows desktop. I was not amused!

So my questions are:

1. Has this happened to anybody else? Not the game crashing as I realised this has happened before. But suddenly losing Pangu's ax and adventures that you had already done.
2. I'm going to do a full reinstall. I've read the instructions on this forum, so shouldn't be a problem. However I have downloaded a whole bunch of stuff from the EA store. I realised I'll have to re-download them again, will I have to try to remember everything I have downloaded, or go to the store and search through all the sets to see what I've already bought? Was wondering whether there was an easier way to do this.
3. I take it if I keep my save games the same thing will happen again? Or will I have to save the lot (family included) to the library, and start from scratch again? Whilst I normally don't mind this I will have re-do all my WA's, which took me a long time!

I have never lost Pangu's Ax, but quite a few other members have and you can locate the threads about it here,

As for your specific questions,

2. You can go to your purchase history at the official store and it will have everything you have ever purchased right there and you can then just re-download the items.

3.  It is best to just start from scratch with your lot saved to the library instead of keeping your saved games in the long run.

That is all I have, hopefully someone else will be able to help you further.

Um, I may have missed something here, but Pangu's Axe is not used to clear rubble. It is used to smash those huge boulders that pop up every now and then. In particular, there are 3 at the entrance to Thuala's garden (did I spell that right?) in France.

I did not totally understand what you said. Did you just start a new game in Riverview? Or did you actually move the household to Riverview? I have moved my lot from Riverview to Twinsbrook.  All the tombs were reset, but the adventures were not. I did not lose any items. All wishes and opportunities were lost, as was family history beyond those sims still living in the lot. All vacation homes were returned to how they were when I bought them.

Pallyndrome, you can use the Axe to clear rubble piles.  It only takes one swing of the Axe to clear the pile, so say you are in the copper mine in Egypt, you can use it to clear all those piles very quickly and get the gems and metals that you uncover.

Oh really? So sorry to confuse you. I lost my axe soon after I got it and have been using cheats to get rid of the boulders. But my sim gets rubble piles down quick anyway cause of the completed challenges in the adventure guide thing.

Sorry for the confusion, I wrote my topic just after the game kicked me out and I was not in the best of moods. Basically I moved the household to Riverview, but before I did that I saved the game in Sunset Valley. Then I started a new game in Riverview with a new save. I thought I had lost all my adventures because I couldn't find Pangu's Ax in my inventory. Now I realise that most likely all my adventures were there but the Pangu's Ax glitch had occured and I didn't notice.

I'm going to reinstall my sims game though because if the game kicked me out once then it will do it again. I had downloaded some third party cc to try it out so that may be what's causing the crashes. I guess I'm not doing too bad if this is my first re-install since I got the game last December. So, I take it that the lots are saved in the My Documents folders and I can just save the file elsewhere, do the re-install, then copy the file back in? Hmm, should really trawl this forum to find the answer.

Also apologies for the duplicate posting regarding Pangu's Ax, I did try and search for an answer in case somebody else had already started the topic but didn't get very far. That's the only problem I find sometimes with forums, brilliant for getting answers to your question but difficult to find it once there's lots of posts.

But I kept my Eye of Horus (it was in a sim's inventory). And the adventures did not begin again.
