No Meteors, Large Fires, or Earthquakes?

My level 8 firefighter has the lifetime wish of saving 30 people, but he has only saved two because he has had only ONE large fire in his entire career. Also, he has had no earthquakes or meteors. Any tips on how to trigger or spawn them? I'm starting to get really impatient, putting out tiny house fires. He has only had one building disaster, too.

I noticed that once my firefighter got to level 10 I had a lot more large house fires and earthquakes.  I still haven't had a meteor though.

Since he's only getting small housefires, work on the related skills to increase your profession level such as mechanical and athletic.  It will speed up the process for you.

It took my sim 40 days to complete that wish (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/lifetimewishes/ambitions/firefightersuperhero.php).
I made another firefighter for fun and they finished in half the time, but I didn't do anything differently so I'm guessing the event spawns are random.

From my experience, it is completely random and no two firefighters will be the same. I had my legacy founder work from the first day possible and he didn't get the wish completed until several days into the elder life stage.
