How many sims are allowed within a household? X360
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:16:27 PM »
I'm thinking I need a bigger house, isn't it 8? I only have 6 in mine. Me, my husband, my daughter, her husband and daughter, and my other son. My husbands lifetime wish is to be surrounded by family and he wants more babies! Whats the deal?

Interesting topic for me. I bought the house that had a cemetery on the land. I tore it down and made a huge single floor house. Something about steps in this game that bug me. Anyway, I started out adding small amounts of furniture in each room when I noticed my inventory was almost maxed. I know that your inventory in the house (storage, refrigerator and books) are also tied in when you go to Build/Buy mode. To me it seems your on-person inventory is a larger one. The reason I brought up the inventory is this:

I have 2 female sims married and I got them both pregnant from the same policeman that doesn't live with my girls. One had triplets and the other twins.  That makes a grand total of 7 people that will be in my house. When they were born and once I finally got the last one home (what a pain that is getting that many kids home when you can only take 1 at a time - grrr!) and out of the car - child services took him. So, as bad as that was, I now have just 6 in my gigantic house.

Before I started this game I played with just a male sim and ended up with 7 folks in my small starter house with not much furniture. My inventory level was almost always in the green/yellow.

So, I don't think there is an actual limit of the amount of folks in one house, rather a limit with the inventory, or should I say space per property. I feel sims are tied in somehow to the land inventory itself.

On another note - I can say for a fact that any pond that you create will not count against the inventory limit. This also includes any fish that you stock in the pond. i know ponds have a size limit inventory system also. I could only get 4 stocked fish types in a small pond and up to 8 in a larger one.

Sorry to write a book here, I was just really intrigued. lol

Okay - as of today (post update), I accidentally called adoption services and it said I had the most number of sims a household can contain. So, maybe the latest patch made 6 the magic number! I have my 2 married female sims and 4 babies.

On the console the limit is six. Because I used the Magic Llama cheat on one of my files to see what the Llama actually does and I currently had six Sims in my household already, and when I "forced another Sim into my household" with the Llama cheat I couldn't switch between Sims and I only had control over the Sim I was last on before moving ("forcing") a new Sim into the family. So, you can "have" more Sims ...but I wouldn't recommend doing this because the game-play would not be efficient.

What is the Magic Llama cheat?

Spoot, The Magical Llama?

I don't know if this cheat is on the PC. I've never played it. On the console however you can pause the game during game-play, press LT, RT, LB, RB (at the same time) an option should appear; "if you wish to resume the game with cheats or without cheats" basically. Assuming you resumed with cheats you'll be able to purchase The Magic Llama in Build/Buy mode under miscellaneous decor. Then you can hold LT on a sim you want to force in your household or force age them.

I am a bit confounded on how you were able to get 7 sims, as I recall it has always been 6 sims limit on console. Was the taken baby in the red mood zone or do you think the reason it was taken was to keep your family at the designated number?

The only problem with the spoot cheat is that you can't earn any trophies.   One time I used it to have infinite simoleons.  It was fun for a while but you still have the fire code so it was basically pointless.

You can only create six sims and I believe it's the same for how many you can have in your household.  If you have created sims and your sim has a baby or your pet has a puppy, kitten I think the game automatically makes it so only one offspring appears.
