Can't click on sims to play them- Fixed!

I looked at the first few pages of technical help, and while there were some problems that were similar to mine, none that I saw are exactly what is happening.

I have a windows laptop
No mods or CC
I have University, Ambitions, Pets, and Generations Expansion Packs
I don't think I have ever uninstalled/reinstalled the game, but the laptop is relatively new- I got it February 27 (this year), and installed the game the first day I got it
My sim had just graduated from University with a technology degree
My game is up to date

The Issue:
I don't know if all of these details matter, but just in case:
My female sim, Jenny, was going to graduate from University with a technology degree (perfect GPA). Her brother (C.J.) and sister (Lynn), who were attending Uni with her, went to watch. Jenny had invited her mom and some townie families (she lives in Sunset Valley) to come watch. When Jenny got to graduation at the Annex, there was a huge crowd outside. She joined them along with C.J. and Lynn. None of the invited people came. They stood outside the annex for hours, and finally went inside for around 2 seconds, then came back out. I tried to get Jenny to go back to graduation because she hadn't gotten the new trait (I am not sure how that works, I just got Uni about 2 days ago). The graduation option was no longer available, and I couldn't click on Jenny when she was selected (I wanted to see if she could change into her graduation robes). I decided to have Jenny and C.J. socialize a little before they went home to become best friends. I told Lynn to paint street art. When Jenny and C.J. became best friends, their wishes to become best friends didn't fulfill. Then C.J. went to travel home. When he went back to the dorm, he just stood there. I tried to see if Jenny and Carole were coming, but I couldn't select them. When I went to the main menu and back, the selector panels had turned green and they were stuck, Jenny just standing there, and Lynn doing street art. C.J is the only one I can control. Resetsim doesn't work, and I guess I can't evict them because they are still in University. Sorry for the huge paragraph, but I tried to add as much detail as I could. Please help!!

Sorry, I don't have university, so, I can only make a couple of general suggestions.

First, do you have a recent save, prior to this glitch.  If you do, replaying the final sequence will most likely fix the problem.  Always save your game prior to major events, it can often save your game.

University is, I believe, a seperate town, like the destinations in WA.  If this is so, can you go into edit town mode, and like WA select an icon to edit your home town?  If you can, try selecting edit home town and then returning to the game.  This sometimes fixes glitches in WA.

In WA you can't evict sims from holiday homes, so I guess Uni is the same.  However, you can pick up the house and move it to another lot.  If you can do this with the dorm your sim is in, it might fix the problem.

After I posted this, I went around in edit town a little bit, returned home, deleted the dorm, that sort of thing (the dorm isn't deleted, I didn't save when I left the game), and when I came back from Sunset Valley, the sim panel was blank. It didn't exist, I guess. I went back in today to try the suggestions, and moving the dorm didn't work, but when I entered the game, the sim panel was still blank, and Jenny and Lynn had different names. C.J. was attracted to Lynn, his sister!!! Jenny and Lynn no longer had any social groups, but I could talk to them through C.J.. I went to Sunset Valley and back, and when I got back, C.J.'s panel had appeared, Lynn was no longer spray painting, and Jenny walked over to a bench and started reading a book. They were acting like townies! I'm going to try adding them to my household through cheats, but I'm scared of loosing all of their skills and social groups.

Update:
I looked in C.J.'s relationship panel, and his sisters are still there, Jenny as his best friend, and Lynn as his friend. "Shelley" and "Toya" are there as well. I haven't tried to add them to the household yet.

Oh, HORRAY!!!! I didn't know that it forced you to go back home, and when it did, Lynn and Jenny were back!! Yay!!!!!!!!!

You don't delete a topic once it's answered. Someone else might get the same problem later, and when they search for their answer in the Custom Search bar in the upper right corner they might find this thread and get help.

Also, many people like browsing the forum for tidbits of information (like me for example).

The only people that can delete/move a topic are the forum moderators and administrators.
