Can't select anything under one of my sims

I just aged my toddler sim into a child. I decorated a room for him (after all, he can't sleep in a crib anymore) and when I was done, I tried to click on the bed to make him go to sleep but it won't allow me to select the bed. The little asterisk is there but nothing happens when I click on the bed under that sims control. In fact the only thing I can click on under the child sim is a desk chair.

I have tried the ResetSim cheat and that does nothing. My other sims in that family ( the parents) I have no problems with. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Did you try exiting the game and restarting?  Also try deleting the bed and buying a new one.

Yes I tried restarting. I also tried deleting the bed and getting a new one and nothing changed.  The only thing I can click on under this sim is one desk chair.

Do you have any mods (game modifications) installed?

I only have stuff bought from the Sims store and stuff from the exchange that has been on my game for awhile.

Did you age this Sim up in the normal way with a cake on his birthday?

Yes there was a normal aging up.

A couple more details for you: Someone on Facebook told me to try evicting the child ( of course I had to do this with an adult) and then add them back to the household. I did this and the same thing happened, only I am now noticing I can click on any dining room chair and my child sim will be able to sit in those but if I try to click on any bed, couch , or armchair , then nothing happens. I get no message or anything.
