I'm New - Can't get the cheats to work...

First, I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and playing through the Origin client as I've got the download version of all the expansions & Stuff packs that I've purchased. 

I've tried pushing Ctrl + Shift + C and even Ctrl + Shift + Windows + C but neither option works.  It brings up my chat window instead.  I've just uninstalled Sims 3 and Ambitions (until the other day that was all I had).  I just want to use the money cheat right now so I can set things up really well.  Often that's the only cheat I use, but I can't even get the cheat command line to open up. I've also played the original Sims and Sims 2 and before this install never had a problem with getting the command line to work.

Is there something I can do to get it to show up??  Any help would be appreciated.

Simple! You just got the order wrong--it's Shift + Ctrl + C.

As far as I know, there is no order - it's just Ctrl + Shift + C or Shift + Ctrl + C.

What do you mean, Chat Window? Do you mean a chat client (a program that lets you connect to a chatroom)? If so, press Ctrl + Shift + C when out of game to see what opens. Then close it and find the .exe file for it, right click, choose Properties, then change the "Shortcut" to something else.

It's a chat window that's part of the Origin client.  I just checked the client and didn't see where I could change the shortcut.

Have you tried playing without Origin?   It's not required to play Sims even if you download the game with it.

Just tried that and that didn't work either.

Try opening Origin, going to Origin at the top left, Application Settings, in the window that opens go to In Game. What is the Origin In Game Hot-Key set as? Mine is Ctrl+F1. If that doesn't work disable origin in game.

Ok, I just disabled it because mine is set to Ctrl+F1 as well.  I'll give it a shot, thanks for your help!

Found it, it wasn't Origin at all, it was my Engin Client which I use for Guild Wars 2.  I changed the shortcut for that chat window and it's all good now.    Thanks for your suggestion, samoht04.    Not sure I would have realized it was Engin if you hadn't suggested Origin.
