Question about building at the University
« on: April 19, 2013, 12:18:24 AM »
I built a dorm at the University, but I had a lot of trouble, crashed a lot, maybe had some issues with the actual game, some strange save issues.  I got it all fixed, finally finished the dorms and started using it and liked it.

I went to build a house, this time, game crashes a lot again, but totally crashes the whole game.

Is this a normal issue?  Is there any advice on how to improve my building things in University?  You have to move the Sims TO the University first, move them in (somewhere) and then go to edit town to build, right?  I moved mine into a blank lot and never got it to work, (kept crashing when I'd save after I'd build something)... I had to drop them out and send them home and forget the building.

I hoped someone would have some ideas?

You can also edit the university and the vacation worlds at any time from Edit Town in your homeworld, if you click on the little icons in the top left corner.

As for the crashing, it sounds like you got hit with the game-stopping bug that Seasons introduced. People say it's caused by rainfall (and snowfall?), so turning that off at the start of the game should help. You can also try this: enter Edit Town, save the existing lot to the bin, bulldoze the lot so it is empty, then re-add it from the bin. That has always fixed it for me. Using the "move lot" option in Edit Town to plonk a problem house onto another lot of the same size and then back to its original location is also reported to help. At least temporarily -- if you want to add another floor later, you may have to repeat this.

Thanks, I actually had no clue you could build in University from "home"... I gotta try that!
I'll keep these other ideas in mind too!!
