Guitar Skill & Logic Skill questions

Regarding the Guitar skill challenge "Guitar Star," the main site says it's bugged, but related to a Guitar Opportunity. So, can I still activate/complete the challenege by doing the opportunity, or can you not complete it at all?

Also, for the logic skill, I've had a sim with 10 level logic, get beated multiple times by other chess players (with lower logic level, I think?). Do I just have to make them have more time at the actual chess board, or is it purely luck?

It's able to be completed but it takes a long time.   Guitar opportunities don't seem to fire as often as others do.  And you have to have 10 separate guitar opportunities completed to do the Guitar Star skill challenge.   I've only ever gotten Guitar Star twice since I picked up Sims 3 in June of 2009.   My Sim was an elder on normal life span each time and they didn't know any other skills and still they had to wait almost 8 game weeks to get the tenth opportunity.

Chess games are pure luck.  The more chess they play the better they get at it but they can still be beaten by someone else all the way until the point they are Chess Grandmaster.

But another question, I'm trying to complete the Logic skill challenges, but for the "tutoring kids/students" one, it doesn't seem to be affecting it when my sim tutors his son. Instead, it seems to count for the other "tutor a sim for 30 hours" challenge. Do I have to tutor kids that aren't my sim's or...?
