First time poster, long time lurker.
I'm a bit late to the Sims party, but I've been dangerously addicted to it. I just thought that I would share some of my experiences with the University expansion.
Most of what I read is about how to get through Uni as fast as possible, but I take a different approach. I really love it so I do it as slow as possible. I take only a single class per semester leaving plenty of time for social activities after a couple cram sessions. In fact the daughter of my main sims graduated both of her degrees on the dean's list without ever stepping foot in a classroom.
My main sim was taking his 2nd degree, and although he passed every exam on the dean's list his overall GPA was an "F". Come graduation day he still had enough credits to get his degree, and was able to get his diploma and extra trait (he didn't get into the annex to get his diploma the first time).
When the daughter was taking her last semester of her 2nd degree something strange was happening. If I let her act autonomously she streaked. I don't mean once in a while. I mean she was constantly streaking all day everywhere if I didn't direct her to do something. I was glad to see that this didn't continue when she got home.
Because I spend so much time at Uni, pretty much the entire campus is now filled with elder students all racing around with their canes. Apparently time only stops for the player sims.
The friend list doesn't seem to get updated to remove the friends that are no longer at Uni either. My sims have been staying at the De Anda Hall throughout their academic careers. After so many semesters at Uni, and my focus switching almost exclusively to social, I converted the workout room on the top floor into a night club. I threw a kegger every day, but for the first three days no one came. I got the message that no one came to my party, how sad. This is when I noticed that the Friend list doesn't seem to update the sims that have left Uni. I was inviting his old friends because they were showing up as active university friends, but it turns out that they simply aren't there. On the 4th day my sim went to his lecture, and took note of the other sims around to make sure that the next group he invited was actually attending classes. Finally people showed up, and he kicked off a raging kegger in his night club!
Been having a blast with this expansion!
Edit: Another oddity just occurred. My sim's wife who was back in Monte Vista showed up to his kegger, but she had her natural hair (not the new hair from "change appearance"). He decided to make the most of the opportunity and was making out with her, and was just about to get his freak on when the cops showed up to break up his kegger. His wife left with the rest of the crowd. After checking his relationship status it said he cheated. Cheated on his wife with his wife!
