Play online games?

I've had my sims play the various computer games available, but their Nerd social group status still says 0 online gaming hours.  How do you play online games?  Also, how do you challenge someone to a trivia challenge?

There is an option to play games online through the game consoles that require a TV.

You can issue a trivia challenge to anyone; it's just under "Friendly" social interactions.

Playing Online and trivia challenges are abilities that you earn when you have Nerd Influence.  If you don't actually have any ranks with the Nerd Social Group, you won't be able to do either.  I just gained three levels of Nerd-dom by playing on the TV for a few hours.  I've also earned it quickly by learning the science skill.

Oh, thanks!  My sims are too poor to own a TV yet. 

I have a sim couple, both of whom are nerds, but when they unlocked the online game ability, they only received one game console in the family inventory.  Were they supposed to get two or is this buggy?
