Is the door set as the front door? Or maybe there isn't anywhere for the lights to hang? Try adding a roof section somewhere and then try?

Oh, that's probably what it is.  It's one of those lunar modern houses that has a flat roof business.

Thomas, that was hilarious.

I found if you click a townies front door you can hang lights at their house as well.

I had the same problem Pam, unfortunately, the lights do not show up on flat roofs.  I had to put a roof on to get the lights to show up.  I guess you have to have the over hang that a roof has.  The pics are really pretty.

That's what I ended up doing.  The roof looks silly on the lunar modern house, but I've got lights!

Are you sure?  I just tried it and didn't get the option.

That is strange, I am also able to click neighbors front doors and put lights on their house as well.

I have put lights on neighbors houses as well. It is fun to make the town all pretty. :)

Those of us able to hang lights on neighbors house, do we all have NRaas Home Opener installed?

I think that's what was enabling me to hang lights on other lots as well as preventing me from trick-or-treating. With that installed the game kind of treats every lot as if it were your own home lot.

No I don't have those mods but I can hang lights on townies houses. You have to click on their front door to do so or it doesn't work. It also must not be a dome roof ect.

I started to put lights on all the other houses in town, then I left them there the whole game because I couldn't be bothered going back and getting rid of them.  I even do it to my own sims house, I hardly ever have it all closed up so you can see the roof, and often it will be summer again before I realise I've left the lights up all year!

It looks kinda weird when you have a fire fighting Sim on a job and gets the options "break down door" and "Put up lights" seems like the wrong time for decorating really!  ;)

I have been trying to figure this out for days. After all these years I still don't just come right to the forum.  :)

I too tried to click a neighbor's door and couldn't get the option to add lights.
