What could cause so many games to become corrupt recently?
« on: February 22, 2013, 08:09:30 PM »
Hi all... I can keept this pretty brief.

Basically, a number of my games have gotten corrupt over the past 2-3 months or so. Usually it's that error code 12 when I try to save, but sometimes it's other things. One thing I've noticed frequently is the stuff at the bottom of the screen (you know, the blue bar that contains... everything) keeps getting super scrambled to the point that I couldn't build a house, for example, because nothing is clear enough for me to select it.

I do use cheats, but not for every game, and no more often than I ever have-- this has not been as much of a problem in the past. Once in a while something would get corrupted, but nowadays it seems like almost every game I play eventually gets messed up.

Thoughts on why this be? Ideas on how to fix it? I'd really appreciate any ideas you all have.

I think I did a complete reinstall relatively recently but can't remember how recently. I think it was within the last couple of months. I don't tend to do total reinstalls when I get a new EP/SP, just when necessary.

It just depends on the size of your files, how much memory you have and your graphics card.  Usually error 12, during saves, has alot to do with file size and low memory.  I do know, that when I had only 2 gigs of memory, I would get alot of error 12 and when I got more memory, I didn't have anymore, maybe just a couple and when I would "save as" and rename my file, it would be fine.  Usually just a bad file.  Might want to look in your saves folder and see if you have any bad files.
