Help with a damaged Seasons disc
« on: February 22, 2013, 02:01:35 PM »
I checked out the Illuminator's info. thread at the top of the page, here, but still had some questions.

So I got Seasons when it came out.  Last week I noticed my disc was damaged--those parts in the center were just crumbling away! (and it won't always read the disc anymore)  So I did copy everything off the disc per Illuminator's instructions onto my C drive.

But I have some questions.  1)First, I was not clear after reading those instructions on how to play from the copy?  It seemed to be telling me to install the game, but it is already installed.  So I wasn't sure what to do?

2)If I need to reinstall do I do it from this copy?  Is that what the instructions are telling me how to do?

3) Also, how do you download your already purchased disc version of the game from Origin?  I went in and found my games, but it didn't show me anyway to download them.  (I'm paranoid--I want to have multiple options here).

4) Also, I'd MUCH rather have a game disc, even if I don't use it to start the game.  Can I make a copy of my disc?  How?  (My husband is more tech savvy than me, but he said sometimes you can't because of DRM, so I should ask people who knew more about this particular game).

5) also, I did a search and saw some other people contacted EA about problems with discs, but I find EA's page so unintuitive, I've never been able to figure out how to contact them for problems.  And do you think they would send me a new disc?  I think it's past the 90 days, but still, the disc shouldn't really fall apart that soon!

(Oh, I do have a bypass the launcher mod, and know how to use it--it's just not my preferred way of opening the game.)

I had a "Showtime" disc which was faulty, EA were very prompt about replacing it although it was nearly six months old when I discovered the fault.  I found the contact details inside the small leaflet with the access code on the outside.

Thank you!  That is very helpful and I will do that now!

and wanted to add that my husband was able to copy the disc for me, so now I have a back up disc, and won't have to order another one!  (He's much more tech savvy on a pc than I am so it was easier for him to do it).

Thanks for the help, though!
