Medical career help

Hi, I was wondering if someone would be able to help me.
I have someone in the medical career but I don't know what the research part means. What do I have to do?

Been a little while since I played a Sim with the Medical career, but I'm fairly sure the research metric is from reading a journal that should appear in your Sim's inventory at the end of each shift they work.

Thanks so much but I tried that but the face never changed. Is there anything else anyone knows that might help. sorry to be a pain

Yes, he has. I will try it again and see though. If anyone has any more info that would be great, because I would love to see what happens at level 10.

The face will only ever be a yellow smiling face at any one time in the medical field.  You only get one book to research for every day you work.  The face will become not happy if you skip a day. 

Something to note is that these books do not accumulate.  It will change every day to be a new book with a new number at the end of the title. 

Also, I'm moving this thread to the career board since it's about a specific career.

Since this is somewhat related to the topic: since the face can be at best a yellow smiling face does that mean that you can't get promotions as fast as when the research part came in?

It's not always yellow.  For me it's that light green small smile if I remember to read every day.  I don't remember having problems getting promoted though.
