Maxis splashscreen?

Not sure when this started, but it's only fairly recent. When I load the game, before the screen with the plumb bob comes on, there is a Maxis splash screen. I thought I had loaded the wrong game when I first saw it. Anyone else notice it?

A trip down memory lane...

I'm guessing the reason they are once again sporting the Maxis logo is to draw more attention to the upcoming SimCity release.
