The Highwind Lifestate Dynasty
« on: February 11, 2013, 02:37:57 PM »
Hey guys. I've been a lurker on these forums since I got back into The Sims 3 a couple of days ago. One thing that always interested me was the challenge sub-forum. After dabbling in it, here is my first attempt at the Lifestates challenge. :P

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CHAPTER 1 - Enter the stereotypical fairy mobster

Ladies. Gentlemen. Allow me to introduce myself.

They call me Vinnie Highwind, and I'm calling the shots in this here dynasty, see? Ol' Grimmy decided to give me a challenge; create a dynasty, with at least 7 different lifestates. Since I'm a fairy, that knocks one right outta the park. Take that Grimmy, nyah!

But enough about this here challenge. You'll need to hear about the big cheese. Me. This guy right here. First, I'm family oriented. Surely, you should expect that from a mobster. I'm also a mooch and a snob. Yes, I'll borrow money from you, and I'll look down my nose at you while I do it! I'm a bit of an old fashioned gangster, which makes me a technophobe. Finally, every gangster has their own way of releaving stress. Me? I like to fish. I'm an angler. And now, knocking Grimmy's challenge into the dust!

First thing's first, I need a hideout. If I need to find supernatural beings, the best place would be Moonlight Falls. They literally crawl out of the walls there, it's perfect! One part of the rules ol' Grimmy set for me is to start a hideout from scratch, on an empty plot of land. Easy.

If anyone is wondering how a mobster fairy starts off his hideout, this is it. I'd MUCH rather start off with a mansion, with a big fountain o' money in the middle of it, but this'll have to do. To celebrate establishing myself, I do the one thing that I enjoy more than nectar heists. I decide to go fishing.

This here spot's perfect. It's in the middle of the woods, so no other schmucks can scare the fish away. I can just do my thing. And eventually...

Look at this little sucker! Every journey starts with a single step, but I wish this one would have started with a bigger step! No matter. Sure enough, I'm catching bigger Minnows, and even moved on to Goldfish and Toads. I run this fishing joint, see?

After a while, I come up with a fool proof plan. I like fishing. I like money. Why not fish for money? It's genius! NYAH!

News on the street is, if you've got a skill point in certain skills, you can become a self employed sim in that skill. I've already got two fishing points. I told you I run this fishing joint!

Afterwards, I think of something. Ol' Grimmy told me he wanted 7 different lifestates in this family. And that means I have to make some broad my wife. Ol' Grimmy also told me I need a unique best friend. Guess that means I better mingle with the locals.

Better go to the Toadstool. There's no one in this joint. However, I see people going upstairs. Maybe if I...

Good lord, that's a lot of werewolves! Wait...Are those the Wolffs?! Supposedly, they helped to found this city...perfect! They are clearly high brow, my favourite kind of brow. And if I need some money, I'm sure they'll help me out. My best bet would be to get friendly with the teenage son, Waylon.

Ol' Grimmy said he needs to be alive as a best friend when I 'create' the next heir. The way I see it, by the time I finally meet someone, my best friend could be dead. Not if I befriend a teen. I'm one step ahead of you, Grimmy! And with that, we start talking, even when a fight breaks out.

I'm pretty sure they're married, but...ouch! Right in the kisser! Sock him one!

Eventually, it was shutting time, and time for some shut eye. I returned back to my hideout to see some cat skulking around. It's a stray, and it's hungry. If I go into my true form while that fleabag is waiting around...it'll be game over!

It didn't appreciate me messing around with the treats. The little fleabag scratched my shins to make me drop the goods, ate it, and then ran off! If I wasn't so tired, I'd have half a mind to follow it and show it what for. But I've got bigger fish to fry...

That's it for this first day. Now scram! While I get some shut eye...

The idea of a fairy mobster is brilliant. ;D Looks like you got lucky with traits too.

Yeah, I really lucked out with the traits. When I was having a few trial runs before this one, I kept getting some really stupid traits. That's the risk you have to take I guess.  ::)

This cracked me up start to finish. I'm a real fan of the genre, see? A real fan. So I'll be followin' this dynasty very closely to make sure ya don't put any toes outta line!

But seriously, when I read "Stereotypical Fairy Mobster" I had to laugh. That is the least stereotypical kind of fairy I've ever heard.

CHAPTER 2 - The sound of progress

Welcome back to the most important document you'll ever read. The diary of this guy right here. Vinnie Highwind. When we last left off, I made a start in this here city, and ended with me sleeping after some fleabag assaulted me (I bet the Wolffs are chasing it about now...) But for now, I've got a friend I'd like to introduce to you. I like to call him progress.

First thing's first, more fishing. Of course, now I'm in the fishing business, I need to do it often. And yes, that is a Unicorn....stop laughing! I like Unicorns, ok?! They're not...UNmanly...Anyway, I'd like to think that guy was a good luck charm, because I caught quite a few perfect fish, which really helps with my Perfect Aquarium lifetime wish.

At day break, it was time to suit up and visit the Red Velvet lounge. It was a good plan to try befriend a teenager but...I guess the big cheese of the family didn't like a mobster trying to befriend his teenage son. I mean, what is up with that? Unfortunately, the lounge was duller than a pair of concrete shoes. No one was there. I had to retire to the fairy house that I found by my fishing hole (the nerve! some schmuck is trying to take my turf!)

Or so I thought.

I get woken up by the sound of two people talking. I poke my head out of the fairy house to see these two having a picnic in the middle of a forest, at night! I knew something was fishy, so I decided to check them out. Turns out these are two of the three Crumplebottom sisters, Belinda and Bianca. As I started to walk over, they were casting spells at each other. Something about a love charm?

I don't know why, but I was getting the vibe one of them had slightly developed a love of seeds. Neither of them were paying attention to me...or the picnic basket. Come to think of it, I was getting a bit peckish. They weren't going to eat it, so I might as well, see?

As I started to chow down, Bianca left. Belinda stayed behind, reading a book. She'd been love charmed too, you know what that means...

It was time to make my move. Love charm or not, women love a dangerous man. And sure enough...

GEEZE, THE KISS OF DEATH! Oh wait...it's just a regular kiss. Sorry, force of habbit. You tend to get at least 5 kisses of death a week as a mobster. The next thing was to see if she had a ball and chain. Even though I'm a criminal man, there was no way I was going to step between a schmuck and his broad.

So I ask her, 'Hey tuts, who is the bozo that's lucky enough to call themselves Mr Crumplebottom?' Surprisingly, she just laughed. I guess that means there isn't one. After some more flirting, this happened.

I get down on one knee and tells her 'If you want, we can change that...want to be Mrs Highwind?'

And she said yes! That was far too easy. Ol' Grimmy better be shaking in his boots.

When we get back, I extend my hideout to make it more accessible for the other lifestates. It's still not my mansion, but it'll do. It's less suspicious. Over the next couple of days, I continue working on my fishing, while the mrs watches that blasted TV she forced me to get her. It's going to steal our souls, I tell ya.

While fishing, I found a moonstone. That was worth quite a few simoleons, and that's a-ok in my book. My job was starting to pay handsomely now, and it was getting me known. I received a phone call from a celebrity asking for fish. In return, they'd give me simoleons, and get me known. Now THAT, right there, is what I'm talking about. Granted, the celebrity in question was a child, but who cares? I've got a one star fame rating! Now people recognise the name Vinnie Highwind! City Hall also wanted me to unclog a pipe. I don't know why they'd ask a fisher, but I soon found out. A perfect Alley Catfish had blocked it up! The reward for getting it out? More money! I love money.

That evening, I just decided to stay at the hideout with the ol' ball and chain. She may not be the prettiest catch, but she's MY catch. She deserves the name Highwind.

Also, she's a good cook. I haven't managed to convince her to make pasta yet, but I'm getting there.

Since the Wolffs seem to be suspicious of me, I needed to find a new best friend. And so, let me introduce you to Samuel Goth. After asking him how he kicked the bucket, he told me he'd eaten a jelly bean. I've heard of that, but I never thought it'd be true. It just sounds so ridiculous.

All that aside, Samuel is a cool guy. I can definately see him being a good best friend. He might not be as famous as the Wolffs, but I can make an exception, just this once.

Over the next few days, I decided to start sea fishing. If I want to carry on running this joint, I need to expand the amount of places I fish at. I can't catch everything in my little pond. Meanwhile, my wife...

She decides to have a make over, and starts exercising. I'm not sure why. She's good at it too, when I came back, she had lost quite a bit of weight! That's my girl!

I decided that I need another hobby, since fishing had now become a job. I'm now taking up sculpting. Maybe I can decorate my mansion later on. Who knows. I'm making good progress in this too. Even with distractions...

...like this Zombie. The sucker rang my doorbell and waited for me to come outside, so she could eat me! Does she really think I'm that stupid?!

At least she has the patience to wait, instead of trying to chew the doors open...

Author's note: I'm glad everyone likes the story so far. :P

Also, if you need music to listen to while doing this challenge, I've found that 'Superstition' by Stevie Wonder works quite well.

Appreciate the recommendation ;)

I like Belinda as a mobster's wife. She seems to suit it, somehow. I like how Vinnie talks proudly about her. By the way, ghosts are weird with the relationship panel. I think they don't show up unless they're on the lot. You might want to pick someone else.

Thanks for the advice. :)

I would have continued with Waylon, but having woohoo made the rumour that Vinnie was woohooing with an occult (despite the fact he IS an occult >>), which made people have a negative relationship with him.

I hate that stupid rumour nonsense. That is why I wish I hadn't let my Life States Dynasty founder and family become celebrities.

I love your writing style, and the story so far. Whenever I try to write something, it always just falls apart. Anyway, good job so far!

This story has not been posted in for over a year and the author is not currently active in the forum so I'm moving the story to the graveyard.
