Launcher Broken
« on: February 13, 2013, 06:11:21 PM »
So, my launcher's been broken pretty much since day ONE of owning this game. I quickly discovered and started using the shortcut work-around to boot up the game without the launcher, but I am sick and tired of not being able to use fun CC, and additionally, yesterday I received the message upon start-up of the game that my game had become so out-of-date that I could no longer sign in to play online and thusly can no longer access the Exchange/Store/Sharing online. I can't patch or do anything with my game until this is fixed PROPERLY. I have ALREADY tried a multitude of suggestions found online:
#Clearing caches
#Uninstalling and re-installing the base game. (I have the Supernatural expansion)
#Making sure I have the latest version of Flash.
#Going to "document\electronic arts\sims 3\dc cache and deleting 'missingdeps.idx'..." (A tactic which apparently has worked for lots of people, but not me)

Is my game just plain broken? I have read that if none of these options work that it could just be an unfixable hardware problem. I mean, in the end of things, I can keep playing OFFLINE through the launcher work-around, but it would be LOVELY to be able to fix this permanently.

Welcome to our Forum.

When you reinstall the game, you should include all expansions and stuff packs, not just the base game. I would also suggest that you use the instructions for manually uninstalling the game, considering the seriousness of your problem.  Be sure to back up your game and have all of your game activation codes in front of you when you start. You will find topics on our Technical Help board to help you with the manual uninstall and backing up your game. Let us know how it turns out.

Also, I'm going to remove the all caps from your subject line. They aren't necessary and look untidy.

Thank you for welcoming me. I will try a complete manual uninstall and re-install of all my sims stuff, including my Supernatural expansion. I really appreciate you taking the time to make this suggestion, and I apologize for using all-caps in my subject line. I didn't intend to offend or cause nuisance.

Hi, SyrisLeviosa.

One thing you can do if the launcher just won't let you patch your game is use the manual patch.

A download link is available at:
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims/the-sims-3/the-sims-3-super-patcher/

It may not fix the launcher problem you're having, but it will at least patch the game up to the current version. The patch is pretty big as it includes every patch for the game and expansions.

So, do the manual un-install of the game, re-install the base game and then run the patch from the above link. Then install Supernatural. Try running the launcher and see if you're able to use it to run the game.

Hope this helps, and happy Simming. :)
