Sims 3 Won't Launch After OS X Reinstall

Sorry if this is a bit long, but my sim problems always seem to be complicated. The story is, my computer's been having issues for a while. I have a Mac (I'll find out exactly what sort as soon as my dad gets home) but basically it just hangs on different screens like trying to login, and you have to restart it every time. My dad did some troubleshooting, repaired permissions, probably disk utility, and after those didn't work, he reinstalled OS X. All my applications seem to still exist and work (including the ones I downloaded off the Internet), but the Sims 3 won't launch. I'll click on the icon either in the dock or in Finder, and the base game icon will appear in the dock for a couple seconds then disappear (which normally happens when I open), but the Supernatural icon in the dock (which is the launcher I believe) won't bounce or light, which it normally does. The launcher never opens. I really want to play my game, so if you know any way to fix this, it would be very much appreciated.

Have you tried loading the game using the icon under applications when in the finder or somewhere els?  Have you tried just reinstalling just your last expansion?

I've tried opening it straight out of Finder, but I haven't tried reinstalling just that last expansion. I'll do that and get back to you.

I started reinstalling the last pack and it told me it was already installed, so I went to check on that to make sure none of my files would be overwritten if I reinstalled aaannnddd I accidentally double-clicked the app in Finder, and the launcher came up. o.o But now it says "No Game Disc Found" and there is definitely a game disk in there.

I fixed this problem before, but now I'm having it again (reinstalled OS X again, in fact). I don't remember doing anything specific to fix it last time. I tried to reinstall my last EP but it stuck on "Starting" so I just quit. Any ideas? I could, of course, try reinstalling it again.

Also, I don't have all my game discs so I'd like to avoid a full reinstall if possible.

Reinstalling for Macs is now easier with the release of Origin for Mac.  As long as your games are registered you can download and install them anytime.

Did you try the trick of reinstalling just the last EP?
