I would suggest reading through that very long thread that the rules are posted on.  Apparently there are lots of rules clarifications questions in there.  I saw another thread dedicated to legacy questions, and the question of bulldozing the lot later in game play was there, but was not answered by Pinstar himself.

In my opinion, if Pinstar doesn't answer the question, it's not official for the rules.  I also believe that reading through the ruleset is enough because if Pinstar needs to clarify something, he needs to put it into the official ruleset like our Metro does.  So, I feel comfortable just looking at the official ruleset and following it.

That's a nice thought, but Pinstar hasn't posted anything in awhile and the rules could use a good updating.  They are certainly good guidelines though.  And like I said, it doesn't really matter when you're playing by yourself, except to yourself.  Any "official" challenge today, between multiple people, would be silly to go by just the Pinstar rules, as there is too much open for interpretation as the rules are stated and in some cases flat broken.

True, it's a pretty old challenge now and needs updating.  I think he even uses the term "Aspirations" instead of "Happiness" or something.  And it doesn't include anything from the expansion packs.  I actually kept track of points when I played mine, but never had a reason so share them with anyone.

I've been following Pinstar and his Legacy rules for a long time now, ever since Sims 2, and I get the feeling that he's a busy guy in real life and not as active on the official forums as he once was.  If you visit his profile page on the official site you'll see that he hasn't updated anything for a very long time.  He does have his own website somewhere, you might be able to find it if you google.  Although I think that if you find it it will probably not be updated.

Oh, and if you do like to keep score in your legacy, here's a link to a Sims 3 forum post with an image of a scorecard that you could print out and use.  Or if you have Excel or OpenOffice, another person has created Pinstar & Aaroc(apparently a harder challenge) Legacy scorecards for those apps here.

Your first link is fine, but the link to download that particular scorecard is no longer valid.  The Excel or OpenOffice one does work just fine.

That spreadsheet  was created by ciane who has been one of the most consistently kind and helpful people there.  I stop in from time to time just to see what she has said.  Certainly saved my bacon a bunch of times.

The first link doesn't work, but if you follow some links at the end of the thread, you can find a fresh link, updated for WA and Ambitions!

Was it for Sims 3 when you last read them?  Didn't he also write a Legacy Challenge for Sims 2?  I'm just wondering if maybe he made the changes when he modified the Sims 2 rules for Sims 3.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, it was for the Sims 3 specifically that I read them. I had read the rules very shortlyl after Pinstar has modified them so that they conform to the Sims 3. Previous to that I gathered that people were using the Sims 2 rules and publishing the stories on the blog. It got so popular that Pinstar ammended them for the Sims 3. I'm guessing since then there's been a lot of ammendments, however I haven't been keeping up with those. As I said, I definitely know in the beginning you had to build your house, as I said in my post, when I read that I was like, oh no! Not building our own houses! Till then I definitely made the traditional no foundations, box-like house.

Once I get back home (I'm in Gibraltar at the moment for work) I have a bunch of links that I found for real-life house plans that are great for the sims (with slight modifications). I'll post them on this thread.

Heheheh.  How do you think I found this place in the first place?  She mentioned in a post that someone else had been here and it sounded so good thought I'd check it out.  Now it's my new home.
