Next chess opponent dead?

When my Sim tries to invite over his next chess opponent, there is no response at all. The opponent was a best friend of the family, but is no longer listed as even anyones acquintance. Is he dead and can you play against a ghost? I tried resetting him to no effect.

I have occassionally found both in chess and martial arts, that the opponant never turns up.  The only way I know to fix this is resetsim * rather than just resetting the sim by name.

This happened to me as well. I didn't know what to do to finish the Chess Master LTW, so I bought Change Lifetime Wish LTR and got another LTW. Thanks for the tip Wai!
