Mobile Motive
« on: January 17, 2013, 08:44:57 AM »
Okay so I'm super annoyed!  My sim purchased the Moblie Motive which is a great vehicle if my sim would STOP taking a taxi.  I've set it as my preferred vehicle but he'd still rather not drive and let the taxi take him.  I have a family of 3 I've tried the Mom driving that car.  Nope.  I've taken it in and out of there backpack.  Nope.  I've tried choosing go to community lot with and choosing this option in and outside of the backpack.  Nope.  Has anyone else had this issue?

I'm moving this over to the Miscellaneous Help thread.  Hopefully someone will be able to help you better than me.

I was going to suggest making them take it to the places by choosing where they go for a day.  If that's not working though then I'm stumped.   I had a game where eventually mine just disappeared so I had to get another one.

It seems that sims will always take a taxi if they're taking an infant or toddler with them somewhere, even if there's another driver available. (This wasn't always the case - I've seen pictures of an adult sim trying to hold an infant and a steering wheel at the same time. Usually the infant ended up upside-down in the adult's lap.) You didn't mention the age of the third person in your family - is that possibly an issue?

Other than that, the way I most reliably got people to use the Motive Mobile was to put it in their inventory and have it be their preferred vehicle, and choose "go to" interactions on the Motive Mobile instead of the sim or the map a few times until they got the idea. It might help to have them walk a few steps off the lot with the Motive Mobile in their inventory, too, so they're not on the same lot as another vehicle.

Thank you so much.  You were right!  I had a toddler just one little guy and he couldn't go, only mom and dad.  When he became a kid he could ride in it though.  :)  Thanks for telling me I couldn't figure it out to save my life.

Personally, I found the Motive Mobile good for one thing: teaching teens to drive. It is too slow for anything else for me.

That is a great idea.  I does take forever to teach them otherwise.

Except for the other good thing:  maxing all of your Sim's needs when he rides in it.  :)
