Can't delete a sculpture block object

Hi.  I had to restart a town and now my sim can't complete a sculpture that was on the go.  I've managed to delete the base and the sculpture within the block of stone, but cannot delete the stone.  I've used Testingcheats with shift in live mode - but no delete object option appears / move objects / f2 or 3 with the hammer.  Can anyone else think of a way to get rid of this.  I've moved it to a corner of the yard for now, but would dearly like it gone.  I found an earlier thread for this problem but have used all those tactics to no avail.  Thanks in advance.

You had a sculpture, you moved the block of material to see what was underneath and then went into live mode without finishing the sculpture? 

There is no way to get rid of that block of material other than maybe move out of the house so you don't have to see it anymore.   Sculptures have to be finished by the Sim in order for it to go away.   I've tried hundreds of different ways and I know Chuckles did too  but there is no way to get rid of it once you've gone back into live mode after having moved it.  Except maybe go back to a save before you did it.

thanks for responding.  When I wasn't able to complete the project, I tried several ways of deleting the whole thing.  I wasn't trying to see what was underneath the block.  While I was trying to remove the whole base and sculpture with the hammer, the finished piece (the horse statue) showed up and in a split second mouse click was was deleted by accident, so I then I figured I would be able to delete the base and block as well.  It was a new town so no backup saves yet.  Well, I'll leave it for now.

Hummm...a thought...Maybe I can copy the house to the library and then a blank lot and remove it in build mode.  Then move the family into the copy.  That might be a solution.

This is a complete shot in the dark.  I have never had this exact problem.  Have you tried moving it to the family inventory?  If you can, you could remove everything else from the inventory then select delete all.  Just a thought.

Yes I did try to move it to the family inventory.  I also thought I might have been able to sell it from there, but it wouldn't go there.  Good thought though.

a while later...my plan to copy from the library didn't work.  Oh well.  It looks like EA wins this one.  I've put in a garden around the stone so I can't see it.  It looks pretty good.  ;-)  Thank goodness we have imaginations.

Or, if you don't play a challenge with rules that won't allow you, you could:
- Save you game first before doing anything
- Then put the sculpture base on the lawn
- Save/copy the family to the library (without the sculpture base)
- Go back into the house where the family also still is
- Move the sculpture base into the inventory / family inventory
- Move the family (including the sculpture base in the inventory) out of the house and delete them
- Move the family from the library (the ones without the sculpture base) into the house.

This is just a thought. Not sure if it works, but I think it could. Good luck with it!

Hi Odie.  I appreciate the response.  That's a really good idea.  I had built a garden around the stone, but eventually, since I had the house saved in the library from another game, I moved my family out, deleted the house and put in the one from the library.  I had to make a few changes (unique to different family) but all is now good.  I sure hope that doesn't happen again.  It's hard to think of all things you should do to preserve the lots.  Get rid of scupltures - put that one on the list.
