Gardening Glitch

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I am playing Generations and trying to climb the Gardening career path but after downloading an update/patch my plants only harvest once and then stay that way. They never produce again or die, but they do grow weeds :/ of course! Any suggestions?

Hi Purenergy,

I've run into this problem as few times with my gardening Sim families.  I've got a couple of ideas you could try, and a quote from Ricalynn too that might help.

You could try Resetsim * to see if that helps. If you play with Nraas Mods and have Master Controller installed, go to City Hall, and select Reset Everything.

If those don't help, maybe using a previously saved copy of the family/game with family in it might ?? help. This has helped me!!

This glitch has been talked about a lot in the Patch 1.38 thread.   The main part of the glitch is that your Sim probably has a blank page in their collector's journal where the plants should be.  This causes them to reset after tending garden to one plant.  I can also lock your plants in the harvest stage and they won't continue their life cycle.  Some people have had success with a resetSim * to reset the plants but the Sim will still have the problem.  The only known fix  so far for the problem with the Sim is twallan's overwatch mod.  Otherwise any Sim that has a blank collector's page under the plant tab will continuously have problems.  Any Sim that starts gardening after the patch is fine however.

Thanks for the info, but the sim in question started gardening after the patch, though she is the daughter of the original sim I had the issue with. I will try the resetSims command and see if it works. So far I have not had to reset any sims. I had been playing Twin Brooks and then moved them to Riverview(side?) to see if that would clear up the glitch, but it didn't. We need a new patch to patch the patches from the old patch, lol!

What is "twallen's overwatch mod"?

In my experience, it didn't matter that the gardener sim was created after the patch, as some of my gardeners were, but they still got glitched some how, but resetting everything and/or grabbing the family from a previous game save helped.

I'm not good with trying to explain what Overwatch is, but if you'd like to have a look at the game modification board, that'll help explain about the mods and what they do.
