Sims 2 - does it use the same cheats as Sims 3?
« on: January 20, 2013, 04:33:24 PM »
My daughter is wanting to get Sims 2 "just cause it looks cool".  Will there be any problems running both 2 and 3 on the same computer?

You can totally have both installed on the same computer since they are entirely separate games. I know plenty of players that do.

Sims 2 and Sims 3 are entirely separate, I have both installed with lots of Expansions on my laptop. You might notice it slow down, but that is normal when you install a lot of games.

As for the subject - some cheats exist in both, such as motherlode and kaching, but others have slight differences, like testingcheatsenabled true and boolprop testingcheatsenabled true.

I have both installed through Origin, and neither conflict with each other. The majority of cheats where you have to type “True” or “False” in The Sims 3, you’ll need to add the prefix “boolprop”. I don’t have as much experience with The Sims 2 as the original or 3, but I believe most of them are there. The testing cheats were a lot more powerful in 2, let me tell you…

“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.

Nope, in fact I have 1, 2 and 3 and nothing conflicts. You can play them all with no problems since they are different games.
