Corrupted files

I don't think it means Sims 3 as I am not having any more than the usual problems lagging at times.  Still . . .

Turn my computer and it pops up with the remark that I have corrupted files, give a bunch of numbers, words and stuff, says it will run a check gives seven seconds to stop and then starts the check.

At 55 % of the check it just stops, doesn't do anything, waited for quite a while the first time and finally turned the computer off (pushed the button). Tried again a couple of more times, same thing, at 55% is just stops. 

Josh and I are both sick with the flu, so he doesn't feell like doing anything, as I can just push the space bar and it goes to the normal Windows screen

Any idea?  Does it have to do with sims?  He says I play it too much (I do, for around 6hts).  Could that be the problem?  Do I need to uninstall sims 3 and the expansions packs?

Have you tried running a virus scan on your computer?

Yeah,  but still the same problem.  Had the day before updated the virus protection, McAfee.

Have you always used McAfee or is this a fresh installation?  The reason I ask is that I had enormous trouble with McAfee a couple of months ago.  In a nutshell, they had sent out a bad file in one of their updates and it was destroying the inside of my computer.  It wouldn't run a virus scan properly, took down the firewall so that I got many bugs in my computer, etc.  I couldn't even uninstall McAfee because it was all so messed up.  Eventually, I found out about the bad file they had sent and found the instructions to manually uninstall their program.  I started using the free security package that came with my computer and I've been very pleased with it.

All that being said, it probably wouldn't hurt to re-install Sims 3 if you haven't done so recently.

I've had MacAfee for over a year.   It has been popping up for a couple of days a message that my scan is off.  I turn it back on, and when I restart the comuter later it is telling me that again.  That had me puzzled.

I just ran a scan and it stopped.  I thought I might have hit a button and done something wierd, do that a lot. 

*Sigh*  seems that could be my problem.  My son just got up, he will take care of it later on today.   I'll use the one my internet server provides free.

Thanks for the help.  Now if you could take the moodlet thing and use the cure on me, it would make my day.
