Hive Mind!
« on: March 06, 2013, 04:14:40 PM »
My sim at university looked at the job board for a social group opportunity and got one asking her to start a group project with the science gizmo.

She took two other people to the science gizmo, clicked on the gadget and chose one of the three actions.  The two sims with her chose the other two actions, and the gizmo did a lot of cool animations.  Then there was a pop-up saying that they had managed to contact the Overmind and go into a hive mind state.  After that, she had whirly lights around her head for several hours, and her skilling was faster.

She only had a Science skill of 1 when she started all of this, since she's a Fine Arts major (though she does have a high Logic skill), but that didn't cause the opportunity to fail.

It was cool to look at, and the faster skilling was pretty nice, too.  It's an opportunity for the Nerds social group, of course.  (I know Fine Art majors are supposed to be with the Rebels, but I don't like their emphasis on cheating, so I aligned her with the Nerds, anyway.)

Just thought I'd mention this, so people would know that their sims don't need a high Science skill to take advantage of this opportunity.  Though I guess I could be the only simmer crazy enough to major in Fine Arts and still align with the Nerds. :D

Are the moodlets you get from that thing random?

I ran into this object after I hit level 10 in science.  I picked the green option, and I was happy when Hive Mind first activated since I'd never seen it before.  Then I tried it with the red option and got the Uninhibited moodlet, and the third time I used the blue option and everyone on the lot got a Power Nap moodlet and passed out.

I've only done it once, and I did pick the green option, so maybe you do need to pick the green one to get the hive mind.

Watching them all suddenly fall asleep must have been funny; I can't imagine falling asleep after watching that big machine power up and spin around and flash all those lights and all.  :)
