Generation 1, Chapter 6: The Plan

Noel wasn't sure what to think about Julienne's plan.

Noel: “You want to move your boss in, schmooze her into giving you promotions, and babysit our kids, and the way you get her to do it is that you'll give her the number of eligible bachelors in Twinbrook?'
Julienne: “And convince her to switch jobs.”
Noel: “What, to the fire station? Tell her we've got tons of open--”
Julienne: “Not everyone is brave enough for your line of work, honey.”

Julienne planned for her to come for Noel's Adult birthday party. The plan was slowly coming to place...but first, babies.

Noel, while he was lounging around waiting for an emergency, saw on the gardening channel about how watermelons and apples affect gender. Julienne got right to it, as you can see. Meet Miria Valmont, their third (and most likely) last child, and finally a girl! Noel boasted about his firefighter skills, and, unlike the rest of his family, enjoyed it very much! At least, until her eyes started wandering off. Another daydreamer, the two parents realized.

Life marched on as the party approached. Children were trained and taken care for. Sometimes the results were...strange.

Nolan: “MOM! I'm stuck in the POTTY!”
Julienne: “Again?”

Sometimes expectations were not met.

Julienne: “Now Juleon, did you finish reading that book for school?”
Juleon: “Were there really monsters under my  – sorry, what did you say mom?”

But sometimes, without anyone expecting, the kids were all right.

---
Party Time! Well, it's not much considering the only guest of the night is Cho Sonwhun. However, it's rumored that this professional looking young woman is quite the party animal, so she should have fun. Even if it is herself.

Julienne's attempts at schmoozing her boss and come live with her are successful!

And Noel becomes an Adult.

Unfortunately, Julienne is significantly older than him, so she will age to Elder fairly soon. No matter. Noel will always love Julienne no matter what age she is.

There also seems to be another birthday in the house...

Nolan's quick learning of all his basics indicated that Noel had a Genius in his roof now! Seriously, he was starting to reconsider his heir choices...but he also believed that Juleon could make something out of his life. He just needed to man up. By a lot.

Next time: More birthday parties, and Julienne's plans fall into place.

(Sorry for short update. Kind of busy + I just got Late Night and Seasons and Bridgeport is amazing. Expect to see something out of it fairly soon.)

Generation 1, Chapter 7: The Brothers Valmont

(Author's Note: The Valmont family – well, specifically Juleon and Nolan – have asked to take over the writing for this post. And who am I to deny the children a small spot in the limelight? Who knows? I might just let the family write the rest of their Legacy. Makes my job easier.)

Nolan: It's about time. From my observations, most other legacies have first person point of views.
Juleon: Don't think they ever had two points of view before, huh Noley?
Nolan: I told you not to call me Noley. I'm not a toddler anymore. We're on equal footing, brother.
Juleon: ...ever since you've aged up, you've become less cute.  Here, have a picture  of you mopping the floor with your kitty slippers.

Nolan: ...when did you take that? I had to wash them and dry them manually because we lack a d--- wait, why are you showing the world the kitty slippers? Take that down! Fluffy and Whiskers deman their privacy!
Juleon: Too late.

Juleon: First day of school for Noley.
Nolan: Who wears such atrocious things on a school bus?
Juleon: That color just totally clashes. Blue, orange, green...is he a basketball fan?
Nolan: I wasn't talking about the bus driver.

Nolan: Hey, it's our papa! But where's his hat?
Juleon: Apparently aging makes people lose their hats.
Nolan: Maybe he stole the fire truck in memory of his hat.

Juleon: And here's mom, with Miria.
Nolan: Mama's always busy with her, and her job. She also cooks most of our meals since papa might burn on accident.
Juleon: Or on purpose, knowing him. I wouldn't even know what to do if our stove went on fire...
Nolan: Faint?
Juleon: ...n-no...
Nolan: You're scared of our bathroom.
Juleon: You trying bathing in the dark!
Nolan: I've done it and survived. You can too.

Juleon: We forgot to mention it, but it's actually Miria's birthday today. We're holding a party and everything!
Nolan: And Auntie Cho just loves parties. I think mama actually threw this party more for her than anyone else, since papa and I didn't really get a party for our birthdays. Also, doesn't she look a bit...different?
Juleon: Yeah. Unfortunately, purple blush just does not look right on anyone. But I'm more of a natural person myself...
Nolan: You would know this from experience?
Juleon: N-No! I just watch the shopping channel when they put on makeup on girls and...she just needs a better makeover is all I'm saying!

Juleon: Is that a burn mark on Auntie's back?
Nolan: No, that's just a tattoo.
Juleon: Who are the rest of these guys anyway? I think we should've invited our friends...well, if I had any friends.
Nolan: Auntie and mama's work friends and friends-of-friends. One of them is actually that girl. She's Cho and mom's boss, apparently. They're best friends...if only because Auntie Cho is such a schmoozer for promotions and stuff.
Juleon: I thought that girl hates business.
Nolan: The funny things that Story Progression does...
Juleon: What's that.

Nolan: It's him. That Ratchet guy. If Papa didn't come all the way from Appaloosa Plains, mama might've been with him. And, horror of horrors, we might've been his kids. Oh Watchers above, I don't even want to fathom the possibilities...
Juleon: You sure that's not Grandpa?
Nolan: ...oh shoot. Well, they both became werewolves for some reason. I hope that's not Grandpa. Mama told me he's a surgeon. He could take out my brain! My intelligence is at stake!
'That Girl': I actually don't remember either guys.
Juleon: I just hope next party, there isn't so many people...

Juleon: ...because this happened.
Nolan: Doesn't help you're such a loner either.
Juleon: Well you're not exactly the easiest to befriend either, with your big words n' stuff.
Nolan: ...it's not that big is it? Also, your wardrobe choices--
Juleon: Let's not talk about my clothes anymore, okay?

Juleon and Noel: Happy birthday, Miria!

Juleon: And here we have a beautiful one-piece dress with puffed sleeves in Miria's favorite color, Spiceberry. Don't be shy, Miria! Open your eyes!

Juleon: Her formal wear, switching to shorts...

Juleon: ...and her sleepwear. Although it's not obvious, she also has papa's blue eyes.
Nolan: She's also the second blonde in our family, coming from our grandparents. ...not sure how I have brown hair though, if both our grandparents are blonde. Mama did say she dyed her hair in high school, but how would that affect anything?
Juleon: Maybe it's from dad?
Nolan: ...I suppose. But he have silver hair, which none of us have at all...

Okay guys, I think we should wrap it up soon. ...oh wait! I just got this picture. Kids, give your comments.

Nolan: Who is that?
Juleon: It's Auntie Cho, with...what is she wearing? But hey, I think that is that Ratchet guy you were talking about earlier.
Nolan: Mama was saying something about being disappointed that they couldn't talk at the party...something about...a deal with her?
Juleon: I wanna make a deal where Auntie Cho doesn't snore.
Nolan: I'm with you there. But still, what are they up to, in front of our house? And why did mom ask 'that girl' to make a second bedroom...?
Juleon: ...somehow, I think I know the answer, and I don't really want to think about it that much.
'That Girl': A-Anyway! Say bye kids!
Nolan: Wait, I want to know the answer Juleon! My genius trait is tingling!
Juleon: You're too young Noley!
Nolan: Stop calling me that!
Juleon: Bye everyone! Hopefully 'that girl' will stop dragging this weird subplot and focus more on us, 'cause, y'know, this legacy is about the Valmonts.
Nolan: I know. When will we have posts about my brilliant mind?
Juleon: Just say bye already!
Nolan: Fine, bye, internet citizens. Go read someone else's dynasty like the one about the Targs. That one actually makes sense.
Juleon: Do we get money out of th--

...maybe I shouldn't let them do a post for a while...

how come Juleon grow up with such a difficult to use traits?
are you making it on purpose, or it is just because he don't finish his training and sort? (but I thought I read that Julienne and Noel do train him, so that might be not the problem here)
btw he really look like a cute girl  ;D LOL

@Sherry: I don't even know! Julienne and Noel did train him correctly. I really think it's just Noel's Unlucky Trait. It's like it knows this is a legacy. At the same time, I think it's funny so I don't change anything.

Yeah, he is. Most beautiful girl in the land haha

This is the sort of story that makes me snort tea through my nose when I'm reading it. I love how the unexpected things during legacies and the like are what make it even more classic. I'm curious to see now what sort of Teenager the little Elf becomes...cuz he is very so fabulous. Without a doubt.

I assure you, he becomes more fabulous as he ages. (Seriously though. With all his horrible traits he's still one of my favorites.)

I just played...I'm so behind in writing (sigh) Jules and Noley are already YA in my game. I have finals this week, but hopefully I'll catch both dynasties up by next week.

The Valmont Legacy - Generation 1, Chapter 8: Fruition
« Reply #24 on: December 12, 2012, 01:40:36 AM »
@Anna33: Oh she is. She's a teen right now...it can only get better.

Generation 1, Chapter 8 - Fruition

Hey there, it's Julienne. I'm sorry my boys' little sibling rivalry got out of hand last post. If I hadn't my hands filled with my pl-- I mean, with work, I would've edited the heck out of that.

Miria's growing up pretty well. Noel's been doing a lot of the life lessons training.

She looks up to Nolan, and I can't blame him. Nolan's quite the little genius.

Our boarder and my boss Cho also helps sometimes. Unfortunately I can't say I approve of her sleepwear, especially around two soon-to-be-teenage boys.

Due to my insistence,  she got a wardrobe change. Not sure how it's much different. She seems more flashy, a little more bald, and kind of Mardi Gras-ish. I understand that we live in Twinbrook, but...nevermind. What's important is that there's new man in her life.

It couldn't have been more perfect. Bill Racket, ever the persistent suitor even as he aged and...grew lots of fur, took the bait of my call, expecting me. But as he came to our place, he saw this new, young, exotic woman Although they had met before, this was after her makeover, which I think might've added to her appeal. Somehow.

Cho was kind enough to share some of her pictures of her dates. Something about 'wanting to be popular with boys all over the world'. I feel like I might've done Bill a disservice. She did tell me that she's quite the love 'em and leave 'em gal...but I'm sure it should be all right. Commitment is a pretty hard decision to get to for some people, but someone whose income is a steady as Bill's should keep her coming.

Now what about the Legacy founder, Noel?

We found out that, once in a very blue moon, Noel has coworkers. But most of the time, he's still alone, tinkering with the fire truck and alarm. He's mostly doing the same thing, saving people from fires, coming home late, and yet somehow has time to hang out with his family. He's really something.

As for Juleon...

Yup, he's a teenager now. Let the raging hormones begin!

(Edit: A/N - About Cho's hair - it was supposed to be spiky, but I think it can't be applied to all the different kinds of wear...so I changed it to that other style. It was weird.)

Generation 1, Chapter 9 – Seasons

Mom forgot to mention something last post. In that (absolutely horrid angle) picture of me, the seasons had been reinstated into Twinbrook! Not sure why they had disappeared before. But what matters is that these cool seasonal festivals are in town!

Auntie Cho got a tan. I was thinking she was a bit too pale. Must be her Shang Simla roots.

Me, Dad, and Noley had a hot dog eating contest, with this classmate of mine named Connie Markham.  Normally I wouldn't do something so uncivilized, but it's rare that the kids get to do anything with dad, so I obliged. Take a good guess who won.

Me baby! Unfortunately the hot dogs I won went bad, but I won all these cool tickets.

I bought Noley a snow cone as a consolation prize. He threw up, the poor guy. But at least it wasn't anywhere near me because...I don't know if I would've ever forgave him.

I set up a firework...and ran for dear life. Why is this so accessible to teens, much less kids, is a mystery. Someone might die, for Watcher's sake.

Unfortunately it ended. And soon I had my first high school homework, which is soooo tiring. But at least it was inside. Although festivals are cool and all...why does it have to be outside? There's diseases and allergies and all this other junk! Ever since Nolan gave me this book, I really detest going outside.

Speaking of Noley, have this totes adorable pic with him and Mom. He'll be so mad when he sees this later!

In a little sad news, Mom aged up to elder.

It's weird. Miria's still a toddler and Noley's a child. Thankfully Dad's a lot younger than Mom, but I keep thinking about how much time left we have with her...

Speaking of old people, Auntie visited that Racket guy recently. They're the most lovey-dovey people I've known (besides Mom and Dad), but the age gap bothers me. And he's hairy. I guess some girls are into that, but I would shave off all the hair on him if I was her. Also he wears sunglasses indoors. There are rules against that! ...I think.

Soon after that, we had another birthday to celebrate...

Little Noley became this older, manlier teenager. Sort of. He also admitted that he's not into dating and stuff, though I thought that was kind of a given for him. The Watcher told me that she was extremely unpleased at this development, but that's just how it is.

Despite this, I think the future is bright for our family. Mom and Dad are still very much in love, Noley's a teen, Miria's bound to have her own birthday and become the fabulous lady she's meant to become, and Auntie Cho and Mr. Ratchet will probably get together and start a family of their---

...on second thought, maybe not.

Tilla: I seriously think I get more calls when they're married.

Generation 1, Chapter 10 – Departures

Julienne: Cho, I know Bill meant a lot to you---
Cho: You don't understand!

Julienne: But you don't have to leave us because of that! Noel, the kids, we all love you and I think there are plenty of other guys who would love to date you!

Cho: Julienne, I've never done enough in this house. Kids – they're not my style. I was meant for a life of partying and flings.  If I had a kid with Bill, it'd be a different story, but we never got to that point. I met him too late in life. And as long as I stay here, with you, his former lover -

Julienne: He told you that?
Cho: Of course! He also told me that you spurred him for Noel!
Julienne: Well...Noel came like a truck speeding on the freeway...and it's obvious, isn't it? He's a Racket. The only reason why he was interested in me was because of my money. But you...though you're not poor, you weren't an heiress like me. He had to have liked you because he really did like you.
Cho: Spare me the pity, Julienne! I was being used the entire time. Did you even really want me around? Did anyone?
Julienne: You're just not feeling well because of Bill--
Cho: Look, I've already decided that I'm leaving.
Julienne: But where are you going to go?
Cho: Don't worry about me. I've found a place far, far away from Twinbrook, where I don't have to remember any of this. Goodbye, Julienne Valmont. I hope we never see each other again.

Noel: Is it really true that you and Bill were...a thing?
Julienne: ...are you mad?
Noel: Not really. I'm just sorry she left without saying goodbye. Besides, you've been faithful ever since I've met you, right?

Parents, please, I'm trying to study!

Yeah, Auntie Cho just suddenly leaving caught all of us offguard. We never really talked really, but it feels weird without her all the same. Out of the three kids, I think Miria misses her the most. Auntie did leave on her birthday, after all. I think her sudden disappearance might've made my baby sister a bit... bonkers.

I'm thinking the whole gnome get-up is her way of coping. Like the colors, but not sure if a beard is really the best thing she could wear. If only she just let me help her with her wardrobe sometimes...

But Miria's phase did help me decide on one thing: Trick-or-Treating.

Not sure why Noley went as a Burglar, he's much too smart for that. As for me, I thought having a mohawk would be amusing. But it's too much work for everyday wear. I wish I had the talent for guitar, but it's not a genetic thing for sure.

Apparently this is Mom's coworker, Justin...something. He gave up his humanity for the Seelie Court...or something like that. It's this new craze: live longer and become insert supernatural folk here. I don't get it, but then again, me and Noley are both wizards apparently. My dad and little bro don't really care about it, but me?

Well, this alchemy table's pretty fun to play with. Better than chess. I'll leave that to those two. I kind of envy their closeness, but I think Noley might be the only one who can deal with Miria's...Mirianess.

Miria: So the 13th Amendment freed all the gnomes from their slavery following the Civil Gnome War...
Nolan: There's not such thing as gnomes.
Miria: That's what the government want you to think.

And as usual, Dad's fighting fires. I feel bad that I won't be following in his footsteps...Mom said it's because he took me to the fire station when I was born, but I can barely stand the thought of fire. And darkness. And smelling like the outside. Ick.

Next: Lots and lots of growing up.
