How to build up a good relationship with dogs and cats?
« on: December 21, 2012, 10:51:36 PM »
I recently made a family and moved them in in the sims 3 pets on the xbox 360, and I made two dogs that I hope to breed, but I need a way to get their relationship really high so that they can breed, and I am doing the same with cats in another family. I need to know a quick and easy way to get them to like each other, but I have no idea how (I only just got the game by the way, so don't be too harsh! ;))

Just use the social interactions with them a lot.  There is also the romantic option and use that.  It'll probably be nuzzle.  Just keep doing that until their relationship bar is really high and eventually you'll see woo hoo and probably try for puppies.  Just so you know you might end up with four or five puppies.  That means you have to take care of four or five extra dogs.  You can't change your mind once it's been done.  If you decide you don't want to keep your puppies anymore and decide to try to kill them off by starving them the social worker will also take away the parents.  I had that experience.

I am thinking of keeping one female puppy once all the puppies have grown up, and I will put all the extras up for adoption, same with the cats. I wouldn't be able to handle starving dogs (even virtual ones), in my mind it seems rather cruel! :'( No offense, I just really love animals.

I don't think you can put them up for adoption.  You can't in the PS3 version.  I think only on PC you can do that.  That is what I meant when I said you were stuck with them.

I have done some calculating and the max amount of puppies I could get would be four, because you can have no more than six pets, so since there are already two pets, you could only get four more dogs. Can I sell the puppies? ???

Nope you can't do that either sadly.  :(  It's no different than when you adopt or create a dog, once you have them you have to keep them until they die.

I got just what I wanted! ONE puppy! ;D ;D ;D It's a female, and she looks a lot like her father who is a husky, but she also has her mothers brown colouring in the parts that are supposed to be black. By the way, heres a tip to become friends with grim fast (You MUST have a pet that is loyal or very friendly to the sim who you kill) Kill a sim, then, try to get a pet to save the ghost, and then, if the pet suceeds, get a sim (or the ghost) to do friendly interactions with him as much as possible if he stays briefly, and you may get him as a friend (I learnt that he has the "neat" trait-who would've guessed ;)?).

Congrats, now you don't have to worry about having too many pets.  I've managed to have a couple short conversations with the grim reaper but he doesn't stay long enough to become your friend.  It depends on what the grim's traits are.  Sometimes after he turns your sim into a ghost he will stick around.  One time he played a game on my computer and another time he went inside to read a newspaper but he only stayed for a couple of seconds.  Sims with certain traits can interact with grim, but very shortly.  I've had a pet become friendly with grim before he left.  I've heard that grim will stick around longer if the sim has pets or babies/toddlers but again it depends on the traits of the grim.

Thanks for your advice by the way.
